In light of NCs silence breaking interview what are peoples thoughts about his vision for having a team of home grown talent. It sounds great. I love the idea of a team of home grown saints boys playing like Barca. Is it a realistic vision though? I suppose to work it needs two things a) The ability to pick up young talent early (something we've done pretty well over the years even before the new owners we had a very good youth system). b)The ability to hold on to that talent when it breaks through to the first team b is I think the sticking point with the plan unless you're a very rich top club in Europe any really good talent will always be tempted to move on to a bigger club even if you don't want them too. thoughts?

I kinda of agree with some of that he will be on a hiding to nothing up there as the fans and players already look upset before he has even started. Then again if he comes in and wins a few games maybe the fans will change their minds and start going on about how Houghton had no plan B, played long ball stuff and was a bit of a c unt really. who knows?

That's what I heard, but like MLG said above as they haven't got under pavement heating in the areas around SMS it doesn't really matter the pitch could be fantastic but if the paths outside are all lethal ice then it doesn't matter.

The poster though claimed it was taking barney off againt Orient this season that was a problem, barney was injuried then I believe.

So most likely that was the same with AP at the start of the season then as barney was coming back from injury. People will find any stick to beat the prevoius manger and use the same one to pat Nigel on the back funny old world

There's only one reason to blow out saints for a party. Will you be getting laid at this office party? if the answer is unlikely or no go to the match. If the answer is yes I'm on a sure thing with the blond from accounting then you can always watch the highlights on I-player.

So if say I'm unhappy about something at the club I'm I not allowed to sound off on here with out being accussed of having an agenda to bring the club to it's knees? While much of that interview is good to hear and welcome. I find the whole shadowy forces working behind the scences to bring down southampton football club all a bit over the top. I love going to watch saints play taking my son down to SMS is the highlight of my week. Having said that if were playing like **** on the pitch or the players look like they don't care I feel I should be able to come on here with the hump and say so. Yet it seems on here that unless you're going to jump up and down and sing in NC we trust constantly your part of some shadowy group out to destory the club.

or this season Hudders away and Carlisle away. The whole plan B plan A thing is rubbish Pardew chopped and changed his formations last year we had big debates over 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 on this forum. He made subs that worked and subs that didn't. No different at all to Nigel, some of Nigels subs (sorry impacts) have been late and poor just the same as some of APs were.

Nice to see the bit about not being a selling club but I wonder how well that will stand up if one of the big PL teams come in for one of our stars we might not want to sell but the player may have other ideas. Nice big up of Nigel even if doesn't quite tee up to what I'm seeing on the pitch. It's still good to see the chairman being supportive. Big pressure for Nigel though as we all knew promotion this season or the sh it hits the fan. Don't think Nigel will survive if we don't get promoted.

Normally you don't have to overcome -10 points and the after effects of relegation (like re-building a decimated and demorilsed first team) first though, simply put he did much better than most would have given him credit for on the first day of the season I reckon. Water under the bridge now still do not feel he deserves the vitrol he recieves from some of our fans becuase he didn't live upto thier frankly unrealistic hopes for last season.
