  1. Let's hope Perry and Saijs stay fit: he played twice for Stevenage on loan and one of their fans described him as "shi t".
  2. I'd say it's been clear for a lot longer than that
  3. FFS doesn't even cover it.
  4. The BBC says he's 28, but he's 32.

    well done Lowe

    You waged £64?
  6. Only six subs listed for Saints on the OS?
  7. Saga's on loan to Aalborg mate
  8. Something of a let-down after Reading, but that was inevitable. Davis made three or four world-class saves in the first half: two in particular were breathtaking. The Saints really didn't threaten at all, and Gillepsie was causing us problems down their right hand side (targeting Skacel seems to be a common tactic) The second half saw a marked improvement, but few enough clearcut chances - at least compared to Reading. The two best fell to BWP, who fresh-aired a volley from less than 10 yards out as the ball dropped from height, and then made a pig's ear of a one-on-one, dribbling the ball tamely at Weaver.
  9. sorry to shout but CHRIS PERRY MUST START. ALWAYS. Breathtaking stuff all round. Without question the best Saints performance I've ever seen (have lived abroad mostly; have only seen 20-25 games). Utterly stunning stuff in the first half. But equally impressive was a flawless performance by the defence at 2-1. Even BWP was half decent....
  10. Also, re BWP... in the words of Morrissey, that joke isn't funny anymore.
  11. Great stuff in the last half hour tonight, although it could so easily have been very different but for Davis's two wondersaves right before the second goal and sending off. After that, Saints overran them with ease. Before that, it was close but Saints probably shaded it. Sibierski looked dangerous in the first half and was a hair's breadth from scoring, and the Canaries' wingers caused havoc at times. As for individual performances, man-of-the-match must be Davis, edging Lallana (who looked a class act today - taking the **** at times). Honorable mention to Jordan Robertson, who looked the player that Pekhart aspires to be: big, physical, with a turn of pace and terrific touch. And the goal was absolutely breathtaking - I was right behind the line of it, and I've seen few so spectacular in all my days watching football.
  12. No left wing
  13. Lads, Our boys were a complete rabble out there today. It was frightening. For most of the first half, there was a huge gap on the left side of our midfield in front of our debutant fullback. Wright-Phillips, McGoldrick and Pekhart all showed up there intermittently, but genuinely it was left unoccupied, forcing the play inside, which of course played into Barnsley's hands. I've never seen a spectacle like it, at any level of football. Why wasn't Poortvliet roaring at someone - anyone - to get out there and stay there? Yesterday was very distressing. I've only just moved over from Dublin; have watched the three games this week, but none at all since the Bury cup match before that. We could be in severe trouble here. Barnsley was dire and had no interest in trying to win the game; yet we were reliant on Iain Hume's ineptitude to avoid a calamity (and not for the first time this year). The defence didn't look too clever considering the Tykes' impotence going forward. Perry saved the day several times; we'd have been lost without him, which is alarming. This experiment is going badly wrong. Stern John must start the next game, and someone should put a rocket up Skacel's arse too. I've never seen anything in McGoldrick. He was pony today. Wright-Phillips was worse than useless, just as he was on Wednesday. Pekhart is keen but is nowhere near a Championship striker on this evidence. Surman has regressed alarmingly. Cork has to learn how to kick the ball in a straight line. Gillett and Lallana, along with Perry, were the only encouraging performers. It's not looking good.
  14. Surely the OS would have corrected it. IT's not as if they don't tamper with half the quote that players allegedly come out with. And he'd still be way off: Sunderland had ten points at that point of the season when they won the Championship.
  15. While we're on it, why have they reprinted (if that's the appropriate term) Jan's extraordinary claim that WBA had 3 points after 9 games last season? It could scarcely be further from the truth: they had 17 by then and were third in the table.
  16. Lads, this would be an utter catastrophe IMO. I watched Harte play for Ireland (and his various clubs) for years, and I always thought he was an accident waiting to happen, even in his heyday. He had the pace and turning circle of a North Sea Oil tanker even back then, and I shudder to think how several injury-ravaged seasons have affected him on that front. He is also a simply appalling defender: dreadful positional sense, dives in, *constantly* gives the ball away sloppily in dangerous positions. Avoid.
