Difficult to fault the evidence here to be fair! Have to say, at the end of the day I am pretty proud of the team. Certainly more positive than I thought we'd be feeling today. Even at our best last season we'd have taken the overall performance today as being commendable. Let's just hope we can continue to give Koeman the tools he needs for a top half finish before 1 Sep. if I was Vlaar and Townsen or another Id have seen an outfit that I'd want to join.... And a manager I'd want to work for.

For all the criticism I have made today - especially his first half performance - I still prefer him to Jos. I'd let Jos go now and bring in a Vlaar. I'd keep Yoshida. He's not great, but for 70% of a game he's still better than Jos. sounds like he trains harder too.

No - my point is that Lovrens leadership and dependability at the back compared to the nervousness Yoshida created made the difference in the first half when playing such a defensive formation, we didn't play 433 we were playing 4~3-2-1, but still were looking nervous against long balls. Great ball by Henderson though. One piece of quality was all it needed.

I've not written off Pelle at all. I think he was asked to do a soul destroying role today. He'll come good. But i don't rate Mayuka or Gallagher at the moment. We need some depth and options, and we still may not see the best of Jay Rod for sometime. I think we should shift Mayuka out and put Gallagher out on loan. But we need another option who's as hungry as Long. Point I'm making is that Long and Pelle need some competition and it's hard to see when Jay Rod will be back and firing on all cylinders. I'd buy another competitive striker now, ship out Mayuka and put Gallagher on loan.

Yes - and a reliable CB. Yoshida got better as the game went on, but is too unreliable to absorb the early pressure. Still advocate the need for a strong leader there too. Fonte did well but even if he's wearing the armband he needs to concentrate on his game not leading the back four. Vlaar or someone similar is needed. Gardos may do it, but we still need x3 reliable CBs to compete for places and interchange.
