  1. I've no doubt that his Leeds contract was a factor. However, there's mitigating loss and then there's taking a 3-6 month contract when you're contracted for 27-30 months. I wouldn't be surprised that the club instead of backing JM with a contract beyond this season showed typical naivety and JM understandably walked away to the comfort blanket of his Leeds contract. I can't see any credible way of bouncing this onto JM.
  2. I'm against Scotland having a say in our parliament, having their own, and enjoying the fruits of the Barnett formula if that's the question. If it's independence that you mean, that votes been done and can't keep being revisited. Good riddance to her.

    For better or worse?
  4. We ain't reaping the rewards of Ralph being sacked. We're reaping the rewards of Ralph creating a losing culture, the club taking too long to sack him, then replacing him with an utter Muppet, then taking too long to sack that Muppet.

Miracle worker, we'll never know. The best option being touted, yes. Please name a manager that you say is capable of giving staying up a real go who'd likely be willing to come in as a caretaker. I can't think of a single one. I suspect you can't either.

Ticking over? The clock stopped ages ago. We need a clean sweep. Selles has been part of both managers failures. He's never managed. He's never played. He's not remotely qualified, by experience, to manage us.

There's only logic to that if you're resigned to relegation. I'm not. I think we have half a shout if we get someone on half decent and with experience at this level. To get someone like that we absolutely have to commit - in the real world no credible manager would could come in as a glorified caretaker. Your approach is unrealistic, as is SR.

We know he doesn't have any managerial experience, but based on results and performances this season, what makes people think that Selles is even good enough as a coach?

Strange argument given that we need a manager.

Yep, especially as he's under contract until 2025. He'd be nuts to take a short term job when Leeds are paying his wages for the next 2 + years.

I get that, although Ralph's time was up imo. The issue as you pointed out above is that he's been a dead man walking since the summer and the outcome was inevitable. Having given him too long we then got the wrong man, then gave him too long. I agree that we've fucked it up royally. We need stability and experience imo. If we want a stab at staying up Selles is not that man.

Selles is not a manager! He has never managed. Hiring him is like promoting the head barman of a large hotel to be it's manager. What's he done to merit the job? Playing Djenepo at RB and scraping to a penalty win over Sheffield Wednesday? Crazy, crazy suggestion.

So who are you suggesting that would realistically come here and is available... saying no to options is easy...

I don't agree with Allardyce but at least you're putting a name forward. People saying no, no and no to options but offering no names offer nothing to a discussion.

I get that, and he may be crap. I'd take him in a heartbeat over Selles though who's only ever managed kids for a season. I cannot fathom why anyone is supporting his appointment, even short term.

I was impressed with the way he conducted himself at Derby (as a manager, not the twat he was in his younger days), and the results he managed to drag out of a seriously poor Derby squad. His teams looked fit, organised, and clearly played for him. I could be wrong, and he could be as shit as Lampard or as average as Gerrard, but of the 3 of those, he's the one that I think would be the least shit option.

None of the above. Selles has done nothing whatsoever to even be in the discussion. The others just aren't up to it, although I do think there's potentially a very good manager in Rooney.

Allardyce or Selles - who are you adding to basket?

Like it or not Brighton are a more attractive proposition than us at the moment. They have a great squad, they buy well, and are not half way through the trap door to potential waste ground that is the championship. He's also shown himself above that level. Not a snowballs chance in hell of us getting Potter.
  22. That's a very good point. His Leeds contract is apparently until 2025 and £3.5m a year. If we're only offering until June 2023 it even 2024, I can't blame him for walking away from us.
  23. Indeed. Djenepo RB. Salisu LB. Laboured to a penalty win. Never managed beyond a brief spell managing kids. On no level is this guy what we need.
  24. Wilder has proved himself a decent championship level manager. Wouldn't be my pick but we could do worse.
  25. What a shambles. Seems like the club saw him as a caretaker... whether we didn't want him if we went down, or didn't want him if we stayed up isn't clear, but logic says it must be one or the other. Selles. Crazy.
