It's probably £2m up front plus another sum if he makes x number of appearances for Saints plus another payment if he plays so many times for England. May just be a matter of negotiating how the £6m is paid. £6m all at once would be lunacy unless NC has a given Adkins a larger transfer budget than we realise.

If we're really ready to throw £5 - 6m at skint clubs for 19 year-olds with no league experience beyond L2 at least it suggests there's money to be spent. Wouldn't pay that price though, if we spend £5-6m on a 'keeper it should be for one ready to do the business from the get-go.

Yeah, but I don't think Shaw is going to be ready to make the step up for a season or two and should probably be loaned out for exp and Harding and Dickson are nowhere approaching good enough for the PL. Some real competition for Fox wouldn't go amiss IMO.

Also being over 6 ft and apparently very strong physically would mean, if partnered with Schneiderlin that even the more physical sides in the league will have trouble trying to overpower us in the middle of the park.

West Ham had by far the strongest squad in the championship on paper last season, ours overachieved. The current West Ham squad also has more PL experience so it's not hard to see West Ham doing better than us next season. Saying that, I think we'll strengthen in the right places and have a good shot at a comfortable, if not spectacular season (14th-15th).

If Moyes goes to Spurs, I wouldn't want to be the guy who replaces him at Everton. Moyes did an exceptional job and with the restraints he was faced with, few managers would be able to do what he did. If they appoint the wrong man, they could be in for a rough time next season.
