He was playing DM last season in the reserves...
-
Hmm, perhaps. But by the time he's back, then maybe Thomas will be playing as well... Only thing is that if we think James lacks pace, then Thomas will be positively snail-like. Phew - narrowly avoided tipping into Island of Sodor analogies there.
-
He can play RB, can't he? in which case Lloyd James might go into midfield...
-
Should have added - get better soon, Simon, you'll be needed no matter where we are next season! Your determination and enthusiasm in play have been one of the few really enjoyable features of this season.

Many a true word spoken in jest....

With a torn knee cartilage - on SSN this morning. Drew in the middle and Holmes at LM?

Ritalin?

Winning, of course. And now, the added entertainment value of watching the nipper's reaction to what's happening on the pitch, including more than once tipping water down his own back when he's thrown his hands up in the air at a goal or a near miss.
-
Well, that's alright, then.
-
I'd agree with that, oddly, as I don't normally have a lot of time for him. He and Thomson created the chance that Surman missed, for instance.
-
Other refs would have sent off the lout that laid into Kelvin - who was it? We couldn't tell cause we didn't get a programme today. Oh yeah, and what was it with that? Could only see about three people who had them? Did they only print 100, or what?
-
Just back, and I'd say we were lucky to get the point - but not entirely because we played badly. Really unfocussed, nervous, scrappy game, but for the first time in ages I think that the officials really did play a part in that. They were shocking, and the ref lost control in the first half, completely cowed by a very physical and nasty QPR side.
-
probably a good strategy, regardless.

Marginal on possession: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/live_text/default.stm That "one more pass" thing is the story of the whole season. I have to sit there with an eight-year-old shouting, "Shoot, shoot!!" and knowing that whoever it is who has the ball and a clear shot on goal....just won't. It's a confidence thing. Blimey, if we've got that worked out in the U9's surely it's not beyond the staff at SFC as well. Surely?
-
Rather have Thomson than Smith. His crosses are more accurate.

Don't know where Virgin got this from: http://www.football.virginmedia.com/page/Southampton/NewsDetail/0,,12555~1579890,00.html but suggests that Holmes may be back in the first team in a few weeks. There aren't that many reserves fixtures left so let's hope he continues to mend well.
-
Hmm, yes, but it's the partnership with Perry that's been so impressive over the last few games. I know that it's foolish to believe that players aren't going to have spells when they can't play, and we need to be secure in the alternatives, but these next couple of games could see us out of the bottom three. It's clearly very important that he stays in the team.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/7910396.stm Gutted if this is true. Can't see why it would be misinformation, though. Get it sorted, physios!!!

It's been known. It's a standing joke in our household - every time the nipper tells me Rasiak has scored I have to guess the body part. Face (more than once), knee, chest, arse... maybe one day it will be the Hand of God.
-
Hmm, not sure. Rasiak and Saga never really formed an effective team - and Saga needs a partnership of equals (that is, someone who is just as committed as he is to seeing the goals go in, no matter which one of them scores). John's form is debatable, too - he hasn't really had much time off the bench, has he? Came close last night, by all accounts - looked pretty sharp on SSN this morning. And he's still scored a damn sight more goals in his career than Rasiak, and he's only two years older.... Edit - ah, saw your reply after I wrote this. Not having a go, honest!
-
Euell. Rasiak runs like a sewing machine, can only play in one position and then only in the box. I think the number of goals he's scored with body parts other than his feet shows that he's most effective at close range. A striker like that is a luxury we can't afford - I'd have John over him, as well. Totally agree with what hugh has to say!
-
Tell me, does the commentary go on these clips much later? How can whoever it is doing it mistake Gillett for James?
-
I seem to remember that many people, including the telly commentators, thought that the red against QPR was extremely harsh. And the other one - can't remember the opposing team - he actually took one for the team as he was last man on a striker on a blinding run. Thought it was better to get the second yellow than leave KD exposed. maybe a good decision, maybe not, who knows? Clearly he was inexperienced, and absolutely not in a position to solve our extremely deep and chronic problem with centre-backs. Who was it who was saying the other night that the spine of the team is the most important?? Support in the stadium is one thing, support on here another, that's true. But we know that players and their mates look at the forum, and the kids surely knew they weren't playing at CCC best.
-
Hmm, well, Lloyd James and Ollie Lancashire have come in for lots of stick.
