The first parts of what you said were false though, so I didn't take them out of context as ti was pretty obvious. Pre-seson is the time to try things. I bet you that if we stuck to the same formation during pre-season, and didn't have a plan B, you'd be one of the first complaining about our lack of tactical options during the season and why don't we have a plan a,b, c etc. This is the only time we can try things like this, if they weren't trying it they'd be proving to be pretty incompetent at their job. What do you mean the time for adding new signings has gone? Has the transfer deadline changed? I thought it was the 31st? That's the deadline, that's when the time will have ended to add players, not before. Saying things like that just frustrates as it's so wrong and just screams of someone wetting their pants for no real reason.

I don't think Newcastle will do as well, they seriously overachieved last year and clubs like Chelsea will not allow it to be as close next year. I reckon BA will struggle to repeat his goal haul as well. They'll still be top half, but probably around 9th Im also not sure why they think villa will Finish so high. Their squad is pants IMO. As last year proved....they're trying to rely on their young prospects, when a few of them are probably championship standard at best

Please, can the season start already??? Crap like this only pops up when people have nothing else to speak about and want to provoke a bit of attention. Once we've got to September, we will have our CB's and wingers, Adkins will still be our manager and we'd have made an encouraging start. Stuff like this will then drift off into the gutter as it should.

Michael Kightly (WWFC) - Wants To go On Loan
S-Clarke replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
Not a bad player, but I still think we're after a level of player above him. -
The one on the football rumours website. Funnily enough, any positive transfer news is quickly dismissed from that website, but it seems as people are giving the takeover rumour more legs. Odd. Agendas, etc.

Why do we concede so many long range goals?
S-Clarke replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Another odd thread. There have been occasions when we stand off too much and let them take a shot, but it could be argued that we don't concede many bad goals and teams can't get behind us. This is really not worth worrying about. Im also confused at the relevance of joe garner scoring against us long range, when this was 4 years ago against 11 different players. -
I've said on another thread, I don't actually think he fits our style from the start. Bringing him on for the last 20mins when we need a goal is fine, and could be quite fruitful.
-
You'd think we've learnt our lesson from the Jos signing though! I expect we scouted him for a while, I doubt he was a last minute signing as such as I expect we'd done alot of previous work on him. Our scouts have picked out some great players, so pretty sure they can do the same again.
-
If it was the list you posted, it wasn't great. I think we want better, that may be the delay.

Just lifted a post from TUI, are these people serious? What is with our fans? You'd think they'd have some decent knowledge after all the years following saints, but they seem totally obvious to how things work in the professional game. I believe the time for experimenting with new formation etc. has gone. I believe the time for adding new signings has gone. Last night we should have seen what, in the main, would be our Premier lineup
-
If we're chasing a game, I'd throw him on and get Rickie to knock the ball down in the 6 yard box. Not pretty, but could be a fruitful way to grab some last minute goals! (ala last night)

We are clearly looking though, but we have specific requirements. If we wanted any old CB to fill the void we'd have had 2 by now, but I'm pretty sure we'll looking for that specific quality within a budget. I imagine we also know who we want, but times in the transfer window are often a waiting game. (agents, players, the selling club). Some fans have the football manager mindset, in that it's as easy as making a bid, the club accepting, and the deal is done. People don't realise how much goes into a transfer, especially big multi-million pound ones. Then when ou have to deal with random third party's demanding money, it can all get very complicated. We're not the only club finding it difficult this summer, and we've actually signed more than most already anyway.
-
If the ball falls to him inside the 6 yard box, Sharp will score 9/10. An excellent 6 yard box finisher. Not entirely sure he fits our fluid attacking game from the start though.
-
You cannot make a statement like that until August 31'st has been and gone.
-
This is what I knew would happen. People had their expectations too high from word go. For a club of our current position and stature our signings have been excellent. If you wanted better, name names, otherwise it's a non-argument

Jeez. Start the season already

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
S-Clarke replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
They are apparently after him on loan -
But he was fine enough to play today, therefore what you said means nothing.

Yep, sounds like a classic Lambo setup. Still not massively sure about Rodriguez on the left hand side, although it's dynamic and not a ''static'' left sided position, I'd just feel better if he was up front as an out and out striker. I have a feeling he'd prefer that too, just a hunch I've got from his body language in the games I've seen him play.
-
Sharp on the mark a.g.a.i.n. He's the only consistent ST we have at the mo.
-
TBF if we don't sign a new CB or 2, we probably are. No real joke in that. Would guess NA thinks the same.
-
Well at least we're only talking about 1 or 2, rather than needing 5 or 6 new players......
-
Once the season is started and the Man City game is out of the way, I think we will look ok.
-
15mins to go lots of subs for both sides, game seems to be petering out now. We had a great pre-season last year in terms of the setup, but the results were as mixed as this years (so far) I seem to remember a 1-1 with Yeovil the week before the season started. and an early defeat to Eastleigh.

Three half-time changes by #SaintsFC: Steven Davis, Jack Cork and Frazer Richardson on for Ward-Prowse, Schneiderlin and Fox.
