    Murty back?

Towards the end of the year /start of new year apparently.
  2. http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/08/05/1423069/osasuna-real-mallorca-chase-fiorentinas-papa-waigo-ndiaye He's in for a proper culture shock going to the likes of Carlisle/Exeter - after he's spend most of his career in the top divisions of italy! still surprised we've got him, after seeing the interest in him on the link above. From seeing all the pics and youtubes on him, he's got something about him which will hopefully make him a bit of a cult figure here. at the end of the day he has raw explosive pace - at L1 level against the dodgy defenders, he will (should) take the absolute ****.
  3. You very rarley see L1 clubs dip into the european market for attacking players, so this is a suprise - bit out of blue, like pretty much all of Pard's signings (apart from Murty and Jaidi tbf). Looks like the best of both worlds, in that he's a winger and striker - haven't seen him play, but if he scan score in Serie A and against Juve...then he's got to be half decent! Wonder who recommended this guy to pards?? Unless we've employed some european based scouts too
  4. tbf apline has been pretty positive towards our prospects - read back through some of his posts lately. Not really sure this can be classed as a negative thread either, a valid one in all honesty.
  5. He did - Pearson apparently wanted to mould him into that role too. but that was stopped in it's tracks, bloody lowe.
  6. ffs
  7. Still think it's Jaidi! Can't believe it's anyone else tbf...this is just like the Murty transfer, he was with us for weeks, but they built it up like this! (not saying he's going to be a bad signing - a coup imo)
  8. +1 ! Name me a better defense at this level...! there wouldn't be one IMO, that's probably more dominant than a number of championship too. (Let's not forget, Jaidi made 30 starts for Brum last season, who had the best defense in the league) We just need to get the creative side sorted to feed Lambo, and we'll be a force.
  9. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8231934.stm the dr speaks! "Hopefully we can have a new stadium in place by 2015 or 16. We would like to be a top-eight club by that time." wishful thinking...
  10. Spending 1.1m on last seasons top scorer, and doubling his wages? Signing the captain of a L1 club (for 400k) that will most likely be challenging for promotion (or would have been, i might add)?
  11. just behind Lambert, or if not - on the bench.
  12. Pekhart was the guy from Spurs, tall gangly striker who scored a goal on his debut v Ipswich - not a bad player, but for some reason we never played him. Pericard had trials at Cardiff and Barnsley this pre-season too, i bet he'll end up down in the lower leagues somewhere.
  13. just another note, off topic just on SSN - Colchester expect to announce their new manager tomorrow, possibly Boothroyd. As per usual, right in time for us. Great stuff. Im sure they do it on purpose. ffs
  14. I think we'll be looking better once Mills/Holmes is back though Holmes should be playing a reserve game this week.
  15. I wish we still had the threads from those days on the old S4E forums. Would be a good laugh to go back over them!
  16. he'd be a coup for us IMO. but Misfud would also offer us something we don't have at the moment....he's a quick/agile/nimble player....we haven't got anyone like that! perfect foil for lambert, would be happy with that.
  17. after he fell asleep in the airport - i remember that. although i think it was only 1 day late.
  18. well next season we HAVE to go all out and win it (although i would accept 2nd) with our resources, in L1, we should be able to be promoted automatically when starting on a level playing field IMO
  19. I know what you mean - i'm as frustrated as anyone, as i truly believe we have a good enough set of players to be doing much better than we are. but for alot of reasons that's not been possible - so playoffs is typically very unlikely now - mid-table comfortably would be acceptable for me now though, taking everything into account
  20. Jaidi at a guess. - as we cannot bring in any loans until monday now.
  21. I kind of agree, but i think we should use them and tide us over until January. Hopefully by then we'll have got ourselves together and with the help of a couple of loans put ourselves into a more progressive position...therefore slightly more attractive to decent players for fee's. that's my take on it anyway.
  22. If only it was, i think you'll find alot of moves (Especially on deadline day) work like this. Clubs don't want to lose without bringing in a replacement first etc.
  23. Not a bad signing for Charlton, don't think he was exactly what we needed though. Loan's are a decent option for us atm, just to tide us over to january. It'll become clearer which players are available now as clubs have finished their squads off.
  24. He'll go to a top half championship/lower half prem team - i think he's good enough to score goals regularly in the championship tbf. Depends where we are in January i guess, if players can see we're progressing, not in a relegation fight and have a chance of the playoffs (unlikely on the last point i know) then we may be more attractive than we are atm.
  25. I still think we're good enough to stay up confortably, even without further ''perm' signings. The loan window will be used by us in some kind of way i guess, hopefully to get some pace in...as that's all that's really lacking in this team. The thought of Jaidi and Trotman at the back though should sort us out in defense..nicely dominant. Mid-table comfortably - i still stand by that.
