I'm guessing this is a joke?

Didn't realise that Villa are potentially without Benteke, Delph, Baker, Vlaar, Senderos, Hutton That's 6 first team players out. One of their CB's will be Okore, who hasn't ever played for them I don't think. But he was always highly rated..

Will clyne get a a start/cap in the next couple of England games?
S-Clarke replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
Yeah, ususal Rickie play there. Did well in a little caemo. This was probably Rickie's swansong though. Gives it a nice even ending, seeing that his debut was against Scotland and a year later his final game is against them. -
Saints prepare new contract for Nathaniel Clyne

If it was known that both Davis and Fonte weren't staying, they would have left for sure. and not to Cardiff. What are you suggesting, that he's not that good and only Cardiff wanted him? No, the fact is that Cardiff were the only ones stupid enough to try as it was pretty obvious he didn't want to leave and we didn't want to sell - same with Davis. -

Who is Steven Davies? if you mean Steven Davis, then yes, he is a big name and a very, very important player for us. He's one of the first names on our teamshet. Why people constantly undermine him/look to replace him in their teams is beyond me. Weird. -

Saint Charlie, shut up. No offence. You are an absolute dull fest -
I thought he looked pretty impressive on his Arsenal debut (I think?). Caused their CB's issues most of the evening, was impressive. Should have scored, of course, but you have to look further than that.

Isn't Kyle Walker struggling with the same injuries that Ledley King had? He can hardly train, and keeps breaking down

The latest on a random website, in which the author claims to have spoken to people at the club, is that he's got some swelling on the knee so is looking at January now. But yeah, I also find the official club silence on Jay quite telling.

Now let's hope they all travel back to Southampton fit and ready to go! I enjoyed that England game for a change, high tempo and a bit of grit in it. Good performance. We can now claim that we have the England right back in our team. He won't lose that spot in a hurry.

Spurs thinking long-term? Not a chance!
-
Not sure if you're joking or not, but doesn't that kind of nullify your ''not rating him' opinion?

People talking like Mitchell was the only one finding players here. He headed up an entire department full of people finding players. That's the truth.

So yes, it's a group effort. Also we have a huge team of scouts and analysts from all over the world (I think Tord Grip is involved with us in a consultancy role), Paul's job was to collate everything and run the operation in essence. He didn't do any of the real 'unearthing', his job simply wouldn't allow for that. I'm sure we can find someone equally as capable to oversea and run the operation.

JANUARY - Who will go, Who will stay and Who will arrive?

It's good to see Guidetti getting his career back on track, I think most clubs are looking for him to have a strong period of 12-18 months before getting excited though. He has been beset by injuries and illnesses all over his career, so if he can lose that weakness then he can do it at a higher level for sure. -
Swindon love Stephens, he is a shining light at that level. I think he could be an able player for our squad in the future.

There are a couple of things which make me believe there is something genuine to this. 1st - He's not signed a new contract, no acknowledgement bar us offering a deal. 2nd - He isn't really spoken about, pretty much ignored in any team updates. JWP gets plenty of mentions though. Youtube updates, twitter match day interaction, twitter updates etc. It's all deadly silent on Jay as of late. I have a feeling that he's made his intentions to the club clear, so to the highest bidder he goes....

Way, way over the top in my opinion. We dictated the game, but were sloppy in the final ball on a few occasions, but in the end deserved it. We may have been guilty for going through the motions at points in the 1st half, but I thought we were good in the 2nd. The performance in many ways was similar to how Southampton performed against Leicester.

Our biggest threat to Champions League football...the League Cup
S-Clarke replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
We're 4 games from winning some silverware. Or we're 27 games from achieving a top 4 place. Don't get me wrong, our start has been incredible and extraordinary, but it's not too dissimilar from last season and the league evened it's self out in the end - which it will again. We do not have a big enough squad to sustain this, and whatever anyone says, we will have issues with injuries and suspensions as every team does during a season. We have better depth than last year, which is why I think we'll get top 6, but not quite enough depth for the top 4. -

Absolutely this. For me, it's all about aiming for what is a realistic goal. And however anyone paints it, Top 4 isn't really realistic and it's a huge outside chance and will require a lot of luck. Whereas the league cup is an actual realistic opportunity, 1 game from a 2 legged Semi and a potential bit of silverware. I think I know where I'd place my priorities... -

Are people getting worried about the media getting worried?
-
When will they have a proper plan themselves? What on earth is more attractive about the mess at Spurs right now?

Makes you wonder why the big clubs struggle to get a decent CB. Liverpool with Shako and Lovren @ £40m, both pretty rubbish for them. Mangala for City has been awful for £35m, Chris Smalling @ Utd for £18m

And Gibbs has been called up as well. 3 LB's picked, and he's still not there. Kind of rubs it in, harsh.
