  1. There are ways of increasing the gates significantly and the club are trying by reducing the ticket prices for the Forest game and if they like what they see they hopefully will return, perhaps not to every game but if they return again within the season thats something. I have made suggestions before i.e. every season ticket holder bring a friend for free and fill the Chapel end up. Grandparents day, grandchildren can bring their grandparents along as a Xmas present for £5.00 each grandparent for a nominated match. You have to think out the box to get the gates increased without upsetting the ST holders. I buy my ST to support the club and my team and if someone gets in cheapers for a couple of games per season to boost the crowd all well and good, 3 points is more important to me than £3 in my pocket.
  2. I agree there are exciting times ahead for our club and if we want to keep our best players we have to do our part and support them. If we can add another 10k to the gate at SMS this will make one hell of a difference. We have a young exiciting team, with the promise of more entertaining, exciting football to come. With the credit crunch and the Lowe Haters etc, it is going to be difficult to get people to part with their money but in the long run it will be money well spent to keep this young and exciting team together. I have met many managers over the years and other than WGS I cant say I have been impressed as much as I was last night with Jan & Mark and what they are trying to achieve at SFC.
  3. He didnt mention Schnederlin but Dean Gorre is the guy they have brought in as first team trainer, ex Dutch international player and has experience of playing/coaching in the championship. Did say that Lee Holmes has now started training again.
  4. I would say about 50 - 60 its not a very big pub, Jan actually mentioned that he was attending the London Saints on Saturday after the game, told him we would buy him a pint if they won :-)
  5. Went to the Freemantle pub last night and must say how impressed I was with Jan & Mark Wotte who were accompanied by Olly Lancashire and Lloyd James. It was a very interesting evening. A few things of interest is that they do firmly believe that Lallana and Surman will still be here after January, and they are hoping to keep Cork until the end of season, Dyer will be returning from his loan period. Lots more info and will try to remember more later. If they do visit your pub/area I would recommend you go along as they seem to be trying to rekindle the spirit of Southampton Football Club and also doing it totally independently, i.e. its their choice to visit the fans not the board. I also took the opportunity to speak to Dean Gorre and again was so impressed with him he assured me that exciting times lie ahead with the style of football and what this young team can achieve, he seems a great motivator and really hope that he is offered a contract with the club. Many thanks to Andy the landlord of the Freemantle for hosting the evening, thoroughly enjoyed it and thanks to Jan, Mark, Olly and Lloyd for attending.
  6. Like to add my congratulations to MC on his 60th birthday, remember seeing him in his early days and never thought he would make it, always seemed to be on his arse, how wrong can you be. I loved it when he used to talk about Gary Lineker used to crease me up. HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  11. Its the London trains so quite frequent but need to change at Winchester and/or Basingstoke.
  12. Yes I owe you a beer or two you have my mobile number give me a call when you are in Reading I will be in town centre from about midday I think. Have a safe trip from the Orkney Isles.
  13. I know this is a daft question but are Mark and Stewart Dennis really brothers?
  14. Dont think it would be a surprise to anyone if true.
  15. If he plays again for the first team before the end of the year I will have lost my bet, not that I am worried about the bet would be good to see him back but will he ever be the same player and will he be able to play more than once every two months.
  16. Get the 4 for 2 deal which works out at £7.50 each on SW Trains you cant use the Virgin train service though. We are leaving about 11 as well.
  17. Lucky if we can get two, Pearce wont be able to play, MS and Olly injured.
  18. I am not negative but really cant find any positives, just wish there was something I could do for the club, other than follow them every week.
  19. Jose Marino (well he is younger than me), failing that NP would be my choice.
  20. If Surman had pace he would be worth twice that.
  21. You can still get the 4 for 2 deals, I know for Reading its working out about £7.50 and for London games about £15.
  22. Well if it is going to be before Xmas they better hurry up as they need to give 28 days notice, most probably be on the 24th so not many people will turn up.
  23. Has a date now been planned for the AGM then?
  24. Can anyone else remember a young player we signed from a non league side being paraded in front of the crowd in our first season at SMS (I think), thing is I cant remember the lads name or what happened to him. Tell me I am not imaging this as no one else can remember it.
  25. Pearson for me if he would come back, like to see what he could achieve with the players we have.
