The journos have finally caught up with turkish's posts -
I hate these all encompassing surveys - they distort the truth too much. Show me a survey that compares apples with apples e.g. solicitiors. I seem to remember when we were debating private vs public sector pay and the average private sector pay was coming out lower, you said that it was because all the low paid jobs had been transferred to the private sector and had therefore distorted the figures.

It will be impossible to get 50 50 representation at a senior level in any business if the sole selection criteria is merit. There are more men working at that level that there are women, therefore the ratio cannot be met unless you force a quota. The pool will never equalise as more women choose to take a career break or choose a flexiblework pattern that suits their home life or don't won't the work loads that come with seniority. I beleive that a man and a woman starting work today have exactly the same opportunities to progress. The wild card is child birth and the woman's choices that she makes at that point. I do think that over the coming years that this gap will narrow. Far more men are taking time out because the woman earns a greater salary and I beleive that this will further be improved with the ability to transfer parental leave. As an aside, i am glad the EU have postponed the quota rule for booards. That would completelyundermine the aheivemnets of any woman who had got onto the board through their own merits as everyone would be asking are they good or just the token woman appointment.

Lord Bichard: Retired people could work for pensions
CB Saint replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Lounge
That's because all the old gits stopped dying at 67 and are carrying on into their nineties. That wasn't part of the plan when the state pension was conceived. I feelsorry for anyone who is just leaving education right now - hard to get employed as well as hindered by debts and an impossibly expensive housing market, as well as having to pay to support a ballooning oap population. -

Ask her again in 6 years when she is trying to buy a house, whilst drowning under a student loan, paying huge taxes and wondering when she can afford to pay into her own pension. -

. Actually he is a cross bencher which means he is not banging any party policital drum. Astoundingly, that means he really beleives what he is saying. Perhaps he should declare what he will do for his colossal pension (which if bought when he was 65 would have required a pension pot of £2m). -

Perhaps we need a c*** of a manager to deal with the c*** of a chairman. Personally I would rather scrub my nuts with a cheese grater than have him back. -

To go on record and state that someone is a crook, you need to be 100% confident in the facts. If there is any trace of conjecture, assumption or circumstantial evidence, the lawyers will run a mile. Journos, I suspect, would love to print it as it would massively increase circulation.

Rickie on the bench? **** it, I've had enough, Adkins out.
CB Saint replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
Obviously Cortese has decided that Ricky would be more effective as an impact substitution, whilst enabling his two hand picked signings, guly and Rodriguez, to start. HTH. -

Christ you're touchy on this thread. It was a light hearted reference to illingsworth being banned for posting on a Internet forum and the fact that you have been less than complimentary about our dear leader. Chill Turkish, you are gong to burst something. -
