  1. Preferred the old bloke in the white lab coat who used to put the scores out at halftime in the West Stand-Archers corner. Always a great cheer when he dropped one of the numbers ! Simple things in a bygone age.
  2. Living up here I can tell you many haven't forgiven us for taking Christer Warren off of them. What a shrewd bit of business that turned out to be. Or at least those old enough to remember him.
  3. Let's be honest about this, those of us of a certain age would just love a return to the glory days of 'The Alehouse' wouldn't we ? Amuses me to read of Grealish having a hissy fit because Romeu said something to him, or "pinched him". Wonder how he and the assortment of other Alice Bands in professional football would cope with the prospect of the Alehouse of McGrath, Gabriel, Hollywood, Paine, Fisher, and O'Neill lining up to 'greet him'. Can imagine a few calling injuries, and Grealish bringing a letter from his mum asking to be excused from football on Saturday for some reason.
  4. Remember the game well. Something that won't be picked up in the coverage is the abuse Rodney Marsh received from start to finish. He was always a "favourite" among the home supporters, never really knew if it was some misdemeanor whilst at QPR, or Man City, or if he was just considered ripe for abuse.
  5. I'd agree but whether it fits in with the club's policy remains to be seen. Interesting point re Johnstone though.
  6. First thing I read about him is his age, 30 later in the year which might rule him out. Personally I'd prefer an experienced GK, but we all know our targets tend to be younger with 'potential'.
  7. A name I read on here at one point was Predrag Rajković at Reims. Thought he might have moved on but a quick google and he's still there. Happens to be Serbian.
  8. Presumably his England appearance was a non-competitive match.
  9. Lambert - one of the few who can sit at the top table from my years of watching along with Paine, Davies, Channon, MLT Ings - for his performances in 2019/20 Pelle - wasn't always fully utilised by us, but his QPR goal deserves selection alone Fourth choice is more difficult: Gabbiadini - we rally looked to have unearthed a gem in his early stages, shame it didn't last longer or that he couldn't be better used. Of the current squad Broja has the potential to compete with any of them, although will have to hang around a few years to compare with RL in supporter's eyes. Hoping AA realises his potential with us.
  10. In a Wolves kit ? Crook will be all over this as his new exclusive.
  11. Isn't two hours before kick off the record so far this season ?
  12. Wonder if suspensions are taken into account, or if it’s just injuries, and Covid, either real or imagined by the club making the appeal.
  13. Think we were linked with him when he was at Middlesbrough (if it’s the same bloke),
  14. Despite my earlier post, I certainly wouldn’t begrudge either the accolade of their part in a Third Round ‘Hugh Fisher’ moment.
  15. It's a reverse psychology/tempting fate or whatever ..... In the noticeable absence of the nuns it is a useful weapon !! Now bring on the nuns for a couple more Saints goals
  16. Bringing Elyounoussi (and Long) on is like running up a white flag of surrender Or maybe not.
  17. Rasmus or MLG ?

Won't take them seriously until they've gone on record and published their Five Pledges.
  19. Whereas Forster gets better in many supporters eyes with each game he doesn't play. (Probably on the back of what you've described about McCarthy).

end of season party sorted then with his harp and Ralph on the piano for a good old sing-song. Just don't let Shane Long write the words or sing.

Any chance of cut pasting this on here ?
  23. Sorry - have to retract this. Many memories, yes, but not that good a recollection of which round it was as it was 4th round. (Still played in January though).
  24. Many memories from that day out. A good win rounded off nicely when we got back to the drive home hearing that Arsenal had lost at York City and Steve Williams had been sent off.

Expect the skates will be announcing Solak as a war criminal, in the same way that their genius supporters are said to have accused Markus Liebherr of being a German tank operator in WW2. Despite the fact he was born in 1948.
