  1. Leyton Orient in about 1985 was a good piss up and awayday.
  2. Expect Jackson's Farm will be redeveloped as a golfing range then.

What became of the five pledges ? Perhaps he'll tell us in his farewell feature on the OS, or a page spread in the Echo.

Would like to see both Semmens and Crocker remain at the club, but suspect they might overlap with roles that Ankersen and Kraft see for themselves.
  6. In the light of today's news coming out expect to see Thomas Frank linked with the job. (At least St Lard will be happy).
  7. You would, although I think Sheffield Utd started down this route some years ago after the Teviz episode.

Out of interest is there anything stopping the club in the UK, or Gao making an announcement in China, ahead of it reaching Companies House in the UK ? (Apart from the fact they have nothing to announce of course).
  9. who would take it to court, Burnley, Watford,us ? Not sure any of this group would have the nerve and spirit to go that way. Our management hasn’t really appeared combative since Cortese left, and even in his case I suspect there was more talk than anything else despite his own publicity.
  10. Saints wouldn’t have been able to pull this one as: we’re not imaginative or devious enough, and if we did the EPL would have no sympathy and us to ‘get on with it’ , which we would.
  11. Remember the bloke bringing an air raid siren to The Dell for the last match.
  12. Even in animated form, Eddie looks ultra smug
  13. That’ll make a lot of difference.
  14. Agree. There should be some transparency in the reasons for cancellations at this time and confirming how many Covid cases have been identified. Having players out due to injury is an inevitable risk and that alone shouldn’t be factored in ( as we had to at Old Trafford last season). can’t help thinking that in the case of Newcastle the PL and authorities are a bit scared of the owners and the clout they bring. Not for fear of ending up as Kashoggi Mark II, but the prospect of them fronting up to the league and challenging decisions in court. The league know they can piss around with Saints, and several of the lower half in EPL but don’t want yhe confrontation with the Big 6 or anyone with financial muscle. They ballsed up in allowing their takeover and are now on the backfoot where the arab cunts are concerned.
  15. One of the great mysteries though whether Bally walked out entirely of his own will, or if Askham held the door open for him. In an interview shortly after Ball said that towards the end of the season Askham had told him there was a new contract awaiting him at the end of the season, although this remained in Askham's desk drawer and wasn't referred to again. Rumours at the time of a rift between ball and Lawrie, who was on holiday at the time of Ball's departure. Great shame as Alan Ball was a good fit for us, and things had progressed well under him. Irrespective of the reason for AB leaving it always seemed Merrington was the tiding us over option, and many fans thought he'd be back with the youth development role at the end of the season.
  16. Saints sacked him on the Friday before the England v Scotland Euros 1996 match the following day. It seemed a calculated move to minimise the publicity and any adverse response.

Fair enough, some reasonable points you've given, although I suspect only time would confirm if they were "chancers" or not.

What is the attraction of Redball , and the Beane/Scudamore link ? Have seen a few posters hoping it is them but I don't know why this is deemed preferable to say Red Bull, or Ratcliffe/Ineos for example who at least have some track record in European football. This is not directed at MLG specifically, but his is one of a few posts which appear keen on Beane/Scudamore (which I agree sounds prefereable to our current ownership).

Better quality of bickering on here though as opposed to other boards ... But it does get on your tits after a while. (Beware of someone telling you it's not "news" only a rumour posted, but it does make for more interesting reading).

RedBull, or Ratcliffe/Ineos are at one extreme that I'd hope for, the opposite end of the spectrum though is a Barry the Briefcase/Mickey Fialka type consortium. Probably somewhere in between the 'truth' (it all lies), hope its not a US Hedge Fund.
  23. Just listening to MOTD2, and Jenas going on about spurs midfield ( words to the effect of I haven't seen them play like that all season~). No Hojberg there today, might explain it.
  24. Interesting read after some googling: Mohamed-Ali Cho, a rising star at Angers (ligue1.com) Mentoring by Boufal. Not sure on that one. If we've got £20m to spend, can't see it being on a 17 year old for the future.
  25. Thanks for posting that 31cc, especially for the benefit of us exiles.
