  1. Tadanari Lee eclipsed both of them though.
  2. Not so sure. I think Ted MacDougall would be better given the option of playing alongside Lambert. Don't suppose anyone wants Nivea to come out of retirement as well do they ? It seems his advertising career is now over.
  3. I think you're right but not in his mind he isn't though. Hopefully a good WC for him before Les completes another summer sell off.
  4. ... or that he'll want to stay. I don't think he relocated to Staffordshire whilst at Stoke but the commute from Cheshire was a relatively easy one. If he turns us round then I imagine his stock will rise considerably and he might want to consider other options (for several reasons, location only one of them).
  5. But we are the only daft bast^rds prepared to allow them to more than double their money on a player who hadn't lived up to their expectation. Nice one Les, and Wilson.
  6. Found a small bunch of keys after the game (about 3 or 4), towards the back of N5, probably lost in the goal celebrations. Handed in to a steward. Just in case anyone has got home, and can't get in..... and are logging on whilst at a friends on their sofa.
  7. Got back from Wigan about an hour ago, good result but first half we looked vulnerable, and like a side coached by Pellegrino still – plodding and lacking any cohesion,; almost as if the players had only been introduced to each other 10 minutes before the game. Credit where it’s due they certainly stepped it up in the second half, so hopefully that’s an indication of a manager with tactics and motivational skills. Journey up the M5 was a bit worrying this morning, down to one usable lane for the Worcester to West Brom section, better again after Stoke. Who say's its harder up north ? Atmosphere was patchy, although mental celebrations on scoring. Onwards we go... can we beat Chelsea twice in a week ?
  8. Pellegrino spoke highly of him and wanted him. That was good enough for Les. Presumably Wilson checked him out as Director of Recruitment somewhere along the line. Didn't he... ?
  9. Having been to all the cup ties I agree with you, but expect to be disappointed in that it will probably be as last season and home matches.
  10. We know which will be the priority here don't we?
  11. Good amount in Cheltenham this morning, but hoping will be okay if/once we reach the motorway.
  12. Probably a significantly larger % in North Wales though. Although I don't think it was compulsory in schools when Hughes was there.
  13. Arsenal now away to CSKA Moscow on the 12th.
  14. He was an outstanding player in his prime, although in his spell with us he appeared to simply go through the motions. His time with Man Utd though does nothing to endear him to me though, quite a 'niggly' sort of player. Even on his debut with us his most memorable contribution was some pushing and shoving of the opposition GK at a corner (memory of Grobbelaar and LIverpool but could be wrong). It did liven the crowd up a bit but other than that was all pointless.
  15. Given the dates involved I wonder if our fixture might be moved, otherwise Arsenal play us on the 9th, and again in EL on Thursday. I presume our Monday fixture is to accommodate tv so that might complicate it.
  16. Having had Pellegrino team selections and tactics I don't think we have room to mock them for that.
  17. Interesting obsevations on Rowett as I've only heard a couple of Birmingham fans who speak highly of him.
  18. has he ever managed in the Championship ? If we were to go down, then depending on where their current teams end up, I think either Jokanovic or Rowett would be better placed, but whether they'd be tempted by us in that division and not the PL is questionable.
  19. Think you may be right (in our relegation season or when Sturrock was in charge so 2004, or 5).
  20. And to have played at both The Dell and St Mary's.
  21. Come the summer we can have another spin of the Les Reed roulette wheel, where we start out believing we can improve on Hughes only to appoint someone worse after six weeks.
  22. Largely as I see it. Interesting statistic that many wouldn't be aware of, although it counts for nothing as the clock is reset. (Unless things are dire under MH in which case it'll be trotted our regularly I'm sure).
  23. I recall Billy McNeill having this honour in the 1980's with Villa and Man City. Not the Premier League though if you wish to split hairs.
