  1. It's the appointment of Pellegrino that has been the disaster, and refusing to get rid from December onwards that has been the root cause. Hughes would not have been a choice pre-season, but given Muppet Reed's trademark dithering there was probably no realistic alternative.
  2. Wasn't this always going to be the case with him ? Two previous relegations on his CV, and not a regular starter for Norwich, yet Reed splashes £10m on the tw^t, no doubt believing he could turn that into £35m in a couple of years. No, the bloke is sh!t, and has taken a living out of looking promising as a teenager once upon a time at Birmingham.
  3. Probably retire gracefully saying that was intended all along, but don't worry he's taught everything he knows to Wilson*. *have we scouted a successful signing since he's been at the club?
  4. Didn't many say that once before?
  5. The fact he was seldom selected for Middlesbrough whilst there was lost on Reed.
  6. ... agreed, added to which is Reed's ineptitude in the transfer market (GK, no quality CB, striker ? £19m on Carillo).
  7. I think Hoedt would be a good option sweeping up next to a bruiser CB but neither he nor Stephens look up to being the 'main man'. Hoedt's repertoire is made better by some decent long passes but not often enough, but his overall game is worryingly reduced by the number of times he seems to end up on his arse, sprawling on the ground at a critical time (think Watford away comes to mind). Unfortunately both Yoshida and Stephens are also error prone.
  8. I'm not sure how you've reached these conclusions. Tickets are sold to members, firstly those who've held the membership before the Wigan match, and then who have taken out the memberships after; both categories graded depending on purchase history. General sale includes the proviso: . Seems you might be panicking too early, and without cause.
  9. Not even worth speculating on at the moment. Will depend on two unknowns: what league we're in who the manager is. It wouldn't surprise though if Les already has agreements for Bertrand and Cedric to leave having stayed on this season.
  10. See Nelly's in town : https://www.instagram.com/ivanajewelry/?hl=en
  11. Ted Bates, Lawrie, after that MLT, Channon, honourable mention though to Ron Davies.
  12. Good choices there chaps. Or Les Reed, Mike Wilde, The jock bloke Wilson, Rupert Lowe
  13. Disappointing if true but no real surprise that a club's fortunes are scheduled and possibly decided by arranging fixtures for the media rather than when the clubs agree to sensibly play it. Hopefully if they do reserve it as a "relegation decider", results mean when it is eventually played both clubs need a point to stay up, and two under strength teams play out an uninspiring 0-0 bore-fest for the watching world.
  14. Sounds better to me, and I hope you're correct but I thought we had 25,000 for the FA Cup final at the old Wembley when capacity was 100,000.
  15. From the 1960's the best known Saints players supporters of other clubs would have immediately identified us with were Terry Paine and Ron Davies.
  16. Hopefully it will continue to be discussed after the SF as well. I've read figures between 23-25,000 but not sure if correct/
  17. Saw this in an article about Tuchel. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11890/11305125/thomas-tuchel-prefers-bayern-munich-to-arsenal
  18. Predictable and why many on here said steer clear when his name was mooted.
  19. Burnley , for me - Ralph Coates. And also, Dave Merrington. Not just from a Saints bias, but because he was one of the first Burnley players cards I found with the bubble gum packets in the 1960's. Bournemouth - Ted MacDougall surely.
  20. This is the great debate really, Channon or MLT. MLT more talented and individual flair, but I can't shake off the early memories of Channon in his prime running at defences, and of course the windmill celebration. Both outstanding players, and a real privilege to have seen them play for us when at their peak.
  21. Definitely a generation thing. For me, some random initial thoughts: Arsenal - difficult when I think back which probably summarises how dull they were even when the won the double. In recent time Henry Manchester Utd - could it be anyone other than Bobby Charlton ? Manchester City - Francis Lee Leeds - Billy Bremner epitomised the niggly spirit of them in their heyday Spurs - honourable mention to Jimmy Greaves, but otherwise f^ck off Everton - Alan Ball aside, f^ck off Newcastle - Kevin Keegan, and more recently Alan Shearer (although when I was up there in the 80's many still raved about Jackie Milburn). Chelsea - Peter Osgood West Ham - Bobby Moore West Brom - Jeff Astle Blackpool - Jimmy Armfield Coventry - Ernie Hunt (and that free kick). Liverpool - f^ck off, although Keegan was pretty special when he burst on the scene Wolves - Derek Dougan Leicester (&Huddersfield) - Frank Worthington For us, and my age, Channon.
  22. Many would like a return. Personally I'd stay with the Rank Xerox for a few seasons, albeit with some variation if must, and leave the sash to our 150th year. Whether I'm still breathing and around to see it is another matter.
  23. Isn't four seasons long enough ? On the topic of Shaqiri though, undoubtedly a good player, but he seemed to spend most of the match at St Mary's having a public strop with some of his team mates.
