Does anybody actually want Eckert, because I haven’t seen anyone or met anyone suggesting him. I’ve seen people saying they’ll think it’ll be him, but not seen anyone seriously suggesting him. All I've read is people claiming there are nods that want him.

What planet are you on if you think he’s sitting there waiting for the result of his interview, hoping he’s impressed SR and will be given the chance to manage the mighty Southampton. Not only does Baz face an unbelievable amount of unstoppable shots, but he also has his saves exaggerated beyond belief. Routine saves are suddenly “pretty decent” and decent saves suddenly become “world class”. Had AM still been in nets, we’d have had 2 clean sheets this week, no doubt in my mind.

If, and it’s a big fucking if, he came in and did a good job, it would actually be funny as fuck. That’s the thing with Redknapp, all this agent Redknapp shite only happened when we were relegated, when they thought he’d keep us up they were apoplectic with hatred towards him (some still are). The difference this time is Redknapp was seen as some sort of escape artist, the best man to keep us up, whereas O Neil won’t be seen in the same light. Had he not played for that lot, a lot of the fan base would still be disappointed with his appointment. The last thing we need is a toxic atmosphere after he loses 3 of his first 5 or similar. He’s a better bet than Carrick, Gerrard, or some others imo, but the fact he’ll be given zero room for error means it’s a no from me. After all we’ve been through, we need to be united, and rightly or wrongly, we won’t be if he walks through the door.

Best game he’s played so far. Touched the ball, passed to someone else in red and white a couple of times, and didn’t fall over. Credit where it’s due, he’s improved….

Context is important. We had some pretty average players during our drop to league 1, but we were signing league 1/ lower championship players, ergo they will worse than some of the shite we signed for the premier league, but are actually nearer the standard required. If it’s strictly shite signings, then some will be so bad, they didn’t play and you’d name some nobody outside a few anoraks has heard of. Therefore, my list is made up of players which played quite a bit, but we awful for the level required at the time. I’ve also exclude players like Juanmi who were never really given a chance (maybe because they were shite, but we can’t really tell). Mines more of a “letdown list”, as opposed to shit list. Baz, Ripley, Speedie, Dixon, Jermaine Wright, Bella Kotcha, Ian Andrews (as back up in case Baz gets injured), Downs (so far), Carrillo, Makland-Niles, Bernard, There were some others that I considered shite at the time, like Chicken George or Barry Venison, that would walk into the shite sides we’ve watched the last few seasons.

He’s not their first choice though. Their first choice is injured. So we’ve finally found a keeper from an opponent we wouldn’t swap for Baz. The reserve from a team bottom of the league, haven’t been paying their players and are on minus points…..

Playing him Weds was a bad mistake imo. Now he has to play Sat despite doing enough to be dropped, because giving him one game and then binning him, will destroy any confidence he had. You just can’t do that to him, so he’ll start Sat. Far better to have got through to a new appointment with the present number 1 and then let the new guy decide.

That doesn’t diminish him, it’s like saying look how Southampton pushed on after Adkins left. Let’s not rewrite history here. He did well to keep Bournemouth up after a shocking start under Parker (who has 2 promotions under his belt). They could easily have mirrored our first SR relegation, but he got a grip & sorted them out. First season after promotion as well, which we were told was remarkably difficult last season. I don’t particularly want him, but his record is ok. Remember we had supporters telling us Eddie Howe wasn’t good enough for us because he got relegated with Bournemouth, now O Neil isn’t even though he didn’t. Not my first choice, or second, but there aren’t many to choose from in our bag really.

He kept them up, then took Norwich into the play offs. If that’s considered doing nothing of note, I think you’re in for a disappointing couple of years.

It wasn’t just the goal. The fumble towards the end was pathetic and the conceded corner was totally unprofessional. He then made a meal of a routine save, personally, I thought he should have caught it, instead of giving away another corner. But, either way, it wasn’t a difficult save for a professional keeper, good one for The Ghost though…

To be fair to Blackmore, he’d have cleaned the bloke right out had it been him making contact instead of Baz….

Course we fucking should, I’d expect a keeper to have a better starting position, and read the game better. Even if those 2 things failed him, he should have made more of an effort. Absolutely no blame attached anywhere else, “track the run” my arse, the line was high enough for the keeper to just collect the ball.

This is getting beyond a joke now. Their goal 100% down to him, then a fucking fumble, then remarkably he held onto to the ball too long. Completely unprofessional at the end gifting a corner like that. Fucking shocking, and to think some people defend him…
