  1. That makes me feel a lot more positive. If the league get to influence the sanction, they’ll clearly want Sat game to go ahead. Hopefully, the guilty/not guilty decision is totally independent but the “prosecutor” is involved if guilt is established. The fact the full written judgement won’t be released until later in the summer also indicates that the EFL know what they want and more importantly know we’ll accept what they want.
  2. Clearly, they’ll get a points deduction rather than be thrown out. I imagine Middlesbrough’s case will be the play offs aren’t the league, it’s a separate cup competition. I’m not saying it is or it isn’t, or arguing with anyone one way or the other. It’s just bothering me that IF they decide it’s separate, what is the sporting sanction, because we’ve played the second leg it can’t really be the standard 3-0 forfeited result.
  3. If it was the EFL, then they’d defo take the “easy” option. But surely the whole point of an independent panel is to reach the correct decision regardless of the impact on other people indirectly involved.
  4. What if they decide the play offs aren’t part of the league, and are a separate competition. They wouldn’t deduct league points for a transgression in the League cup.
  5. We’re out. Boro V Hull up north next Tuesday or Weds, we get a fine which will cover EFL loses from moving it from Wembley. I just can’t see them ruling this wasn’t a separate competition from the league, in which case they’ll rule points deduction inapplicable.
  6. If it’s gone that high, they’ll kick us out. If Tonda is involved we’re toast.
  7. Let’s see. If the hearing date was as clear cut as you claim, why did the EFL statement say “on or before”. Surely it would just have said “hearing is Tuesday” I don’t believe for one minute they haven’t been on this all weekend.
  8. That’s my take as well. They need to be water tight, dot the i’s & cross the T’s if they’re making such a monumental decision. I just don’t think they need to take as much care or time if the result is Southampton v Hull on Saturday. The EFL aren’t appealing that & Boro can’t. I’m a glass half empty bloke , but can’t believe this would have dragged on so long if it wasn’t extremely serious. This thread could go from taking the piss to a massive whinge fest by the end of the day.
  9. Beyond reasonable doubt won’t apply in that case either.
  10. I’ve always thought the longer it goes on the worse the outcome will be for us. Still believe that, if it goes much past lunchtime today, we’re out imo. Leaves tomorrow for our appeal.
  11. It’s not a criminal case, reasonable doubt won’t come into it. Balance of probabilities will be the measure.
  12. Any party is free to put rejoining without a referenda in their manifesto and then implement it if they receive a mandate. They can also joint the SM,CU or both. This was Ken Clarke’s POV in regard to dealing with UKIP, if you want to leave put it in your manifesto and if you get a mandate we will leave. Labour won’t have the balls to do it though, as the Brexit vote is spread over more constituencies, whereas Leave is heavy in less, so FPTP favours staying out. The terms we will be offered will also be unacceptable to the British people. Joining the euro alone will scupper that idea, and that’s before we get onto Schengen, ponying up, and other conditions they’ll want.
  13. Not if they say it was a knock out competition. If a team is kicked out of the FA Cup their direct opponent will go through, they don’t need to compensate every team who entered the cup.
  14. Why on earth will the national press want to unsettle Saints, dear god, people go on about Middlesbrough supporters being weird.
  15. Which is the problem if you’re trying to set a precedent and stop future transgressions.
  16. Exactly, and the only mitigation will be the first team manager and senior people in the business were unaware of it, didn’t authorise it, and had they known about it would have stopped it and dealt with the culprits . If it was a rouge element of that department and we can prove clear and plausible defence that the first team had absolutely no knowledge of this, that would be mitigation. With Tonda’s background in this field, it might be a bit harder to prove that. But you’d hope, knowing this was illegal, they’ve siloed The first team from accusations of this nature.
  17. The outcome is totally irrelevant. You’re saying the punishment should be less because Middlesborough caught us and stopped us in our tracks. That’s the equivalent of us playing an illegible player, but not being punished because it was Baz.
  18. If they deem it a separate competition from the league, how can they apply a points deduction. I’m not saying that’s right, but logically if they decide it is a different competition, a points deduction seems unlikely. If they don’t want to chuck us out, they’ll have to fudge that issue, unless they do something totally left field like banning us from the play offs for a couple of seasons ( can only go up if we finish in top 2). If they decide it’s one competition, then we’re on safer ground imo and a points deduction is appropriate.
  19. I’m not happy with what I got, but it’s not because of Brexit. It’s because of the elected UK Government, Tories with their Lib Dem tribute act and this useless lot. What if you wanted Brexit, but didn’t want Starmer, or wanted Brexit, but wanted Corbyn. If Scotland becomes independent & 10 years and 3 elections down the line the country is struggling, is it independence fault, or the Government making horrendous decisions. Brexit is just being outside the EU, what you do outside of it is down to the UK government. You lot will still be blaming Brexit in 20 years time, it’s ridiculous.
  20. This is just a ridiculous argument. “Brexit” just means being outside the European Union, everything else is decided by the Government. Had Corbyn won in 2017 or 19, the country would look a lot different than it does today. Would that be a different Brexit, of course not. It would just be the country being run differently outside of the EU.
  21. That’s a good point. Playing the second leg before concluding the disciplinary , complicated matters.
  22. Who, the independent panel sitting in judgement? I imagine the logistics of the final won’t play any part of their decision. They’re independent for a reason, and this is one of the reasons. We would actually been better off with the EFL sitting in judgement imo, I’m sure that would have played a part with them.
  23. It’s the same thing. Do you really think the tribunal are going to judge that Boro would have been reinstated, but because they caught him, they’re not going to be. I imagine any ruling based on impact will be made on the basis of what advantages we would have gained if he hadn’t been caught.
  24. Once and for all, for the hard of thinking. There was no fucking rule against it when Leeds were caught. FFS….
