Any fans? More hassle than it's worth?

But assuming they aren't interested, then all those things that you say make Newcastle a bad option apply to us too. It's not like he's going to start 20 games for us next season, so he might as well earn more money, and maybe they will loan him to a Champ team. It's a shame if some if our best young players move on but it's not worth worrying about too much. There are plenty of top rated players at u18 level that end up not being anywhere near as good as expected and if we were confident of his ability already he probably would have started a few matches.
  7. Interesting that the other players you compare him to don't play in a stupid 442 and aren't expected to cover every single blade of grass on the pitch week in, week out.
  8. There's a sensitive and profound treatment of this topic here:
  9. There's never a prime time for an adult to wear a football shirt, apart from when playing football.

  11. Can't believe Everton, who definitely are not controlled by sanctioned oligarch Alisher Usmanov, would have dodgy finances. No way! In other news, apropos of Paddy Vieira, here's Graham Stack decking a fan. http://youtu.be/m2tyjacJPfU

Je voudrais un Orangina, s'il vous plait.
  14. Mess up between Sali and Forster but Livramento was pathetic reacting to that throw in.

She's obviously getting ploughed in the meantime.
  17. Randy MacKnob, more like.
  18. I started watching Saints in 89/90 so it's hard for me to imagine how good Shilton was if he was miles better than Niemi as I saw Niemi and thought he was unbelievable, but didn't see Shilton. My abiding memory of Shilton is Italia 90, when he was pure junk, and of course everyone has seen him getting out-jumped by a 5ft 2 midget in '86. So, my question is, did he go downhill rapidly from the mid 80s? If so, why was he still in goal for England in 1990?!
  19. Two years in and you still haven't grasped the following simple reality: - for most individuals the risk presented by Covid is low - for societies, the risk presented by huge waves of simultaneous covid is high. That is why "personal responsibility" or "its my choice" doesn't wash, unless you're a sociopath. It is why a leader needs to follow the rules that are set.
  20. Got to admire their owners. A lot of people come in, flashing cash around, unrealistic expectations, no plan to build solid foundations, and so on. These guys are slowly, methodically, implementing a 40 - 50 year plan.
  21. You can see why Chelsea sold Livramento. They obviously don't think he's technically good enough. Running powerfully in a straight line with your head down might work well at youth level if you're physically strong but isn't much use in the Premier League unless you're built like Lukaku or Antonio. No doubt someone will be along to post a "carries" stat but when your carries end in a bad cross or running straight into the middle of the pitch and getting tackled then it's irrelevant. He has great potential but simply shouldn't be a starter every week as things stand, and Ralph has mismanaged our full backs this season IMO.
  22. Let's be honest, the only player in our squad with a chance of getting into their team would be KWP but even that's debatable. We've fallen a long way from having players that the Champs League clubs would be interested in. I thought Salisu might get there but his form over the last month should ensure he isn't going anywhere this summer. Centre back has been a weakness since VVD left and has never been addressed. Bednarek is shite and his body language and demeanour are terrible but he's still our best option after Salisu. We need to sign two good CBs and give Salisu some competition. GK is obviously an area where we also need a signing, assuming Forster is off. At CM we badly need someone with some recovery pace or, even better, we need to play with 3 in the middle occasionally. Moi, Djenepo and Tella are not good enough. Redmond is out of favour. We need to sign a new AM. Upfront, Armstrong and Long are a waste of a shirt and Adams is a supporting act. We need a new striker. So, basically, we need to strengthen the entire spine and, ideally, add an attacking midfielder. 100m should do it.....
  23. Obviously the opposition are far superior in quality but that was an absolute mess. Both centre backs all over the place. Midfield offering no protection at all. Could easily be 6 or 7. A couple of months ago I was worried we'd lose Salisu in the summer but his recent form should ensure we have him next season too. Desperately need to get him a quality partner and sort out our kamikaze midfield though. Perraud should be playing and if I was Redmond I'd be fuming at Armstrong or Elyounoussi starting ahead of me.
