Are you sure your'e not getting confused between what you WANT to happen and what you THINK will happen.
-
Well, from my perspective that is simply not true. I cant wait for it to start. A win at home to Fulham and all will seem so much better. I know everyone is predicting gloom BUT if you are really honest and compare our First eleven to that of Stokes, Burnley, Hull, Wolves and Brum you would be lying if you did not admit that ours is better. So the next question is will we hold on to them or not? 50/50 I would say. So, you have a choice - *50/50 chance of a good chance of being in the prem next season albeit with no infrastructure (Bricks and mortar!) - our academy is good. *No chance of being in the prem next season but with lots of lovely bricks and mortar! Many years ago we regularly celebrated your demise from the top flight only for it never to happen. I wouldnt quite count your chickens yet. If we stay up (yes I know its a pretty big if), we will be debt free and able to spend all that sky money. Do you really think it is that nailed on we are about to swap places?

Yet you couldnt always fill the Dell. Building an identikit new stadium brings in new fans. We havent done that yet.
-
Do you mean who WERE they? Campbell, Crouch, James, Johnson, Defoe.
-
For the record, the scenery is still pretty good from up here in the Prem. I know its not what you want to hear but things are only really bad compared to having 5 England Internationals, winning the FA Cup and travelling around Europe:rolleyes: Perspective a little skewed down in League One I think. We will most likely finish just above the relegation zone this season - how you would all love that.
-
Not for long though:D

Genuine congratulations. Glad you still have you Club. Look forward to renewed Derby's, hopefully in the Prem:D

A Gratuitous Anti Pompey Thread To Help Cope With The Stress

Like you did in those "Good old Dell Days" eh:D -
And how convenient for you Saints that the "Good Period" happens to start when you get better and we get worse. My Mum would be very pleased to know that the FA Cup win and Championship she witnessed no longer counts!!! Still, looking on the bright side only another forty years and Saints will have no honours - using the same logic. You can only compare the whole - I know you like to cherry pick but come on.
-
Come on, you have to have to have put on some serious Saints spectacles to be able to delude yourself that Saints are more sucessful than Pompey. You cant just select what period you want to make it fit. As for The Dell being bigger than Fratton - no chance and everyone here will agree. 15 k all seater v 20 k all seater. What do they teach you guys at school:D

Just thought I would put together some opinions to try to settle the Pompey is better than Southampton argument: The Cities Population - Saints win Average Income - Saints win Average House price - Saints win Visiting Toursist - Portsmouth win (Surely?????) Best Place to live - who knows, and frankly, who cares I live in Reading and its a hole The Football Current Position - Portsmouth win Old Stadia (Like for Like) - Portsmouth win New Stadia (Like for Like) - Who knows? Say, Saints win though just to be fair Facilities (Like for Like) - Cant really compare New with Old but if you insist - Saints win Attendances - Portsmouth win (All time Ave 17,780 versus 17,214) Attendance as % of Population - Portsmouth win Silverware - Portsmouth win, by some distance Time spent in top flight - Portsmouth currently win by 1 season. Am prepared to be corrected as some sources seem to suggest its even. Cant really think of anything else, but to summarise: Southampton is a nicer place to live, but Portsmouth is prob better for a visit. Football wise, its pretty much hands down Portsmouth - apart from bricks and mortar and that really has nothing to do with football anyway imo. Who knows that will most likely change in the next ten years anyway.
-
Well, we have already won the FA Cup. I guess your right, we could still rise further though.
-
or Reading it would seem:rolleyes:

Maths not a strong subject in Southampton, eh:rolleyes:

Of course, you would also be obliged to relay the facts of the situation Newcastle v Pompey 710 mile round trip £38 Ticket Live on TV Carlisle v Stains 662 mile round trip Currently £12 per ticket Live on TV - well, who knows but lets be honest............ Good luck with beating the 321;)

I have heard a recording of the fans forum that Peter Storrie attended. He stated that if we stay up and no buyer comes forward we will be unable to make new purchases. He also stated that the books will be balanced bu there will be no need for selling in the summer. Sorry to dissappoint, but reports of our demise are short of the mark.
