  1. Yes I remember it well I went up to Bitterne to put on a bet just before 3pm drove back to Bitterne Manor the road was deserted and watched on a black and white screen
  2. Seem to be right at the moment as Ghana have just scored. But USA have done well in the later part of the games so far
  3. John B

    Pre season

Are you sure I thought Wotte brought them in early
  4. Yes Alan Ball was a World Cup winner but he was playing for Blackpool at the time
  5. I think Pearson was very lucky not to be wanted by Lowe and Wilde. If he had stayed I doubt whether he would have achieved as much with SFC as he has done at Leicester
  6. John B

    Pre season

Yes I think we started early last year
  7. But talks with Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric about a new contract have not come to fruition Seems a good reason I would have thought
  8. Probably the player who did the most for our club in the last 50 years followed closely by MLT and our only World Cup winner at the moment.
  9. Well he is not going to get much better with no reserve fixtures and sitting on the bench
  10. Terry , Connelly and Callaghan all wingers played in the group stages but there were no wingers in the knock out stages I dont think Thompson was in the squad Connelly played in the first game Terry Paine played in the second and Callaghan in the third See http://www.englandfootballonline.com/CmpWC/CmpWC1966Squad.html
  11. So why is Bart here then?
  12. We used to be a crap team that lost lots of games including those on Sky. Now we are a good team so we will win lots of games including those on Sky
  13. Dont think that would work as then there would probably be more on Benefit I am an OAP next April so it does not affect me but losing a third of my occupational pension has. Just think people will have to pay more NI or opt out completely
  14. I am not sure SRS used to post stuff that was interesting to discuss Although I disagreed with some of his comments they were well put out.
  15. As we dont have an English Government I suppose I am British
  16. That how I see it to.
  17. I think you make a good point. The main difference between the two parties is that Labour likes Taxes the Tories dont You get nothing without paying for it Obviously there is a general problem with Pensions which has to be addressed but I think it would be better to pay more tax and retire at 65 than pay less and retire at 70
  18. Seems to be a quote from A Daily Mail Reader who has a bigotted idea of how the Public Sector works No I have never worked in the Public sector but have been involved in supplying IT Products and Services to both Central and Local Government and found little evidence of widescale waste. Just normal people doing a good job in difficult circumstances and getting value for money out of a wide range of products and services. It is just a myth put round by people like you that there is wide spread skiving in the National Health Education and Local Government . In fact you last sentence is one of the most ridiculous I have seen posted on this forum as well as the suggestion that I work in the Public Sector
  19. I dont understand how Redknapp was so bad at St Mary's he has done well at other clubs. Listened to him before and after the Slovenia game on BBC 1 and was very impressed with his contibutions but he was useless when we got relegated
  20. I know there is another thread on Bart but I thought I would start another more spefic one about the Goalkeeping Situation at St Mary's So why would Bart want to comeback if there was little chance of First Team Action Is he likely to get more games this season or will Davis continue to be number 1 I thought Bart played well last season when he played
  21. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/worldcup2010/article-1289349/WORLD-CUP-2010-Matt-Le-Tissiers-guide-penalties-England-note.html Quite Interesting I will see if Rickie does the same next season
  22. I disagree he tried to give the impression that VAT would not go up "David Cameron last night dismissed claims the Tories would put up VAT " unlike Vince Cable who after the Issue with The Tories Timebomb Poster did admit that VAT could go up. Of course cuts and Tax increases are needed but it is when and how they happen which is key. If you do not work in the Public Sector probably you may think cutting hard is good but it does mean less Tax income from the people who have no jobs . I doubt whether the 500000 or so people forced out of a job or school/university leavers will think cuts are a good thing. The economy needs to grow before the major cuts take place otherwise things will be grim. Putting up VAT again in January may have reduced the Debt but may have contributed to low growth in 2010
  23. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/election-2010/7625873/General-Election-2010-Cameron-dismisses-claim-Tories-would-put-up-VAT.html Not according to Cameron before the Election - Once in he changes his mind http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/election/article-1268370/General-Election-2010-David-Cameron-reveals-Tories-target-north-east-Northern-Ireland-cuts.html
  24. So putting up a poster highlighting the fact that the Tories would have a VAT TimeBomb is not campaigning against VAT
  25. I think we must just be getting too old
