  1. it's not about the new players, it's about 3 key players, we all know who they are. The 2 younger ones have seen their international careers slip away and Lambert will fancy a shot higher up sooner or later...probably sooner.
  2. If we'd got rid of him in the close season we might have got a better manager instead. Still with Rupert choosing probably him not so much, remember the Gray fiasco.
  3. Not so much, the paragraph in the Echo (and other local newsrags) is based on the public statement issued by NC and broadcast on Solent. The content is hard fact, just the way various people interpret it changes. The fact that NC thought it necessary to issue public statement (and that's what it was) is fairly indicative in itself. He had something to say about our League results and wanted it to be generally known.Men like he don't tart about, not good enough means not good enough and not some wimpish gee up for the forthcoming cup games.
  4. I don't know if there is a transcript of the exact statement on Solent anywhere but by reading the local press reviews of it(Echo:smt036,Andover Advertiser etc) there is direct reference to the 2 million or so investment by the owner as being designed to obtain a play-off place this season. I didn't make all this stuff up you know just to pass my leave week,it's what he said or the press reported him to have said. No play-offs=unsatisfactory in view of investment.Make your own mind up on what he meant by that but to me it it's quite clear No playoffs=75% chance bye bye Pardew.
  5. I don't remember the exact wording of the statement but I seem to remember that the play-offs were the principal objective and only results in order to achieve that were considered "satisfactory".NC wanted us to return to winning ways against Norwich so exactly how he took the bore draw a Wycombe can only be guessed at.
  6. Don't think so, NC will only be influenced by the result at the end of the season against the objectives set (which were probably revised during the transfers window because of the heavy outlay..for a League 1 side).I would think NC has football advisers and their opinion will count far more than 500 LGTCs and GSs. As I say, none of our opinions count, only the management and their advisers.
  7. But those who have read the Gospel according to St Nicola would. I'm fairly comfortable with our results, that's not the question. The question is are the only 2 opinions who really count satisfied with our draw at Wycombe. These are the guys who hire and fire, it's up to them. NC seemed to say in his public statement that only a place in the play-offs would be considered satisfactory, so until he speaks on the matter again nobody really knows what the management opinion actually is.
  8. there's probably rehab centres in Southern California for that sort of problem. Wonder what treatment you get in the sex addict places,Asian hookers 24/7 perhaps.
  9. lets get this straight. Our results are OK, but they are only on a par with those of Swindon who have a team made out of odds and ends from here and there. We have spent a lot of money to obtain similar results as teams who have spent absolutely sweet fanny adams. It's not the results in themselves which will put Pardew's tenure into question but the means deployed to obtain them. If we had a striker from Poole Town and not 2 blokes who cost about 1.2 million £ our results would be absolutely spot on. It's the fact that we can't get better results than Swindon and Huddersfield that is all important. I have absolutely no idea how it will turn out, I hope we get a run of wins but I can see NC blowing AP away because of too little costing too much.
  10. OTT? It's not how I see it or how you see it ,it's about how the Chairman sees it and as I say I'm not sure that he will give AP 18 months because that will put us into the middle of next season. The fans do not decide on the manager's tenure, the chairman does in consultation with the owner. If their objectives aren't being met then they will act accordingly ie Hughes at Man C.
  11. I would think our recent gates plus the earnings from our Wembley date might well mean that we don't need to be in such a rush to obtain the income from ST sales. Probably be announced towards the end of March though.
  12. there's good stability and bad stability. If the manager hasn't achieved the goals set out for him and for which he has obtained funds then it's just as likely that he won't get a second chance. Our top management want results,AP hasn't provided them consistently enough and may well pay the price. He has done no better than many other "lesser" managers with more money and in theory better players. I really don't know how the ambitious owner and his CEO will take that.
  13. I really doubt that to be honest. AP has been allowed to spend quite a lot of money (and a whole lot for our division) with just 1 proviso...make the play-offs this season, it's well documented. If we don't do that he will as likely as not be dismissed.Whether that's the right attitude or the wrong attitude I just couldn't say, it's probably what will happen.
  14. We'll have to wait and see what that brings, football can be a bit of a lottery and I doubt that much more will be invested in the team as the results don't merit it. Players will leave and others will take their places. Whether they'll be of the same standard or better or worse is a mystery. This season was a watershed, we've thrown away chance after chance to move onwards and upwards and I doubt the owner and his representative will be so generous next time round. There's nothing much coming through either and that needs to be addressed. I really don't think we have the ideal manager but that's just my opinion.
  15. True but the results are doped by the October/November period and since mid-December we haven't been so great. If you included the Bristol Rovers result we wouldn't look so good, it's all selective and means absolutely nothing.
  16. We already have enough injuries as it is, we need to let it go.
  17. As long as he actually played no part in the match it's just a name on a piece of paper.Anyway we need to get over all this, we could have WON that match but we couldn't convert any one of 5 or 6 clear cut chances and we lost.
  18. We'd actually be third I think behind Norwich and Swindon. anyway this sort of analysis is very fine but the start point is too selective really. Only 1 stastistic matters, the result over the 46 game season and there we aren't so great so far.
  19. I'm not at all sure that he will get 18 months, should do perhaps but I think NC will cut the losses if we don't get better results against bad sides. We shall have to see.To me AP needs another 12 or 13 wins to be sure of his future here.
  20. He has no composure as Dave Merrington pointed out very firmly yesterday, he's 22 soon and that's no spring chicken by football standards. Doubt if he'll ever come to much really, good skills but is obviously a bear of very little brain.
  21. When I'm watching ASM Clermont the much advised commentator assures me it's for "occupation de terrain".Still I suppose Brock James is better at it than whoever kicks off for us. Bet he'd be a better hoofer than Wotton, probably tackle better as well.
  22. You may well rate him, what I don't rate is the 6 scoreable chances that he hasn't put away in the last 3 games. At Norwich it didn't matter so much, against Pompey and last night they cost us a place in the 6th round and 3 points respectively. He isn't a midfielder because he has no oomph, he isn't a striker because he can't score easy chances. He's a nowhere man and we need to get shot of him, he throws the balance all out.
  23. but perhaps it's not always the same. The problem would seem to be their league game on Saturday and the rugby on Monday. Rugby is very destructive to football pitches especially when it rains and snows a bit. I remember the horror bog that is the Memorial Ground in Bristol, rugby and football don't mix.
  24. I'm not particularly keen for him to get sacked...but he probably will. I do find our efficiency in front of goal leaves much to be desired though. It will cost AP his job, he needs to sort it out or throw in the towel. He has to step up and drop Lallana and let someone else have a stab..so to speak.
  25. yep but with a nigh on 60 match season you can't expect them all to be fit all the time. We needed to decide our priorities before the Cup runs, if NC now wants a play-off place this season he should have said so back in November.
