So who's received their wembley tickets in the post yet?
Window Cleaner replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
What Postie would risk losing a fairly well paid, easy job for the sake of a couple of tickets? Must be in the Sorting Office where the skullduggery happens, Posties are too easily exposed. -
Anyone have any spare tickets for Wembley?
Window Cleaner replied to red&white56's topic in The Saints
Was bound to happen though, plenty must have bought extra to sell on E Bay, hope the culprit does get his ST confiscated and get banned from St Marys, bet he (or she) doesn't though.Slapped wrist I expect. -

I see that the club has had to issue a warning over selling tickets on E Bay,apparently someone has been caught and his ticket confiscated. -
To me we hoof more than we play. We put together some good movements but we do hit a lot of long ball to ..no-one although I guess it's supposed to be for Lambert. It's no doubt about education but playing as we do we will always lose possession too easily. It allows teams to press us because we just can't keep the ball. It's the mentality that passing backwards or sideways rather than lose possession is something shameful that does it. That comes from the coaches not the players. If the opponents are getting on top of you you need to make them chase shadows for a while, 15 -18 passes strung together will soon calm them down, as Swindon showed us.That's not decided by the players on the spur of the moment, our manager has obviously instructed them to get the ball forward instantly.

Why no build up piece from AP on the OS? .Dean Wilkins just spouts shîte on the written piece and the audio version just clicks at me, perhaps he's riding a horse whilst he's talking.Sounds like Patsy banging coconut shells together at the start of the Holy Grail.

Players we produce don't seem to be very high on Pardew's list of priorities. I think he addressed it recently, said we ned to get the first team right first and then we'll see about the academy and all that. To me the McLaggon that we saw a few glimpses of last season is worth 3 Antonios but perhaps the injury has diminished him. It's one of my pet beefs, why have and academy and then play an 85% bought in first team.James and Lallana and that's it all the rest just cast into football's waste bin. I'm so/so on Pardew, don't care if he stays or goes but we have got to get our young players into the first team squad at least and try to play football. If I see KD punting one more free kick from half way in our own half straight into the opposing keepers grubby paws I will explode. It's a waste, so over Pardew I don't care but hoofball must stop.
-
But you have to either have a full price ticket or buy one to get a cheap one. It isn't £5 a ticket. So I really don't understand what you're saying, must be that you're going with someone who already has a ST or a regular ticket.

Not really, Swindon don't have any money, they beat us twice though didn't they. They have about 6 players on loan from first class clubs just now, doesn't make them great players I suppose but if they can get a contract at an EPL club or Celtic I guess they're worth something. We don't seem to be able to attract that sort of loan, perhaps the parent clubs think we have too much money, or that our coaching staff won't take their "asset" forward.Wilkins and Downes...not coaches that dreams are made of really
-
Put it this way are there any Portsmouth players who would fancy a twelvemonth in the Third Division. That's the question not if any of them would be of use to us. Whilst we're in this League we will never get top class players and those that we do have will want away.
-
At least our reserve side had a few "senior" players in it this time. Good to see a more sensible approach being taken there.Probably a try out for our Wembley subs bench. How did McLaggon look ? (anyone who actually went)
-
Well yes they did but having really looked closely at 4 full 90s I think I must have a different idea of what "silky and classy" mean.He constantly chips the ball forward.Maybe it's what he's told to do, I've no idea but he doesn't create anything by doing it.
-
But we would still be 6 points behind the play-off places with 11 to play which is still quite a tall order considering the form of the others. True everything might be different but who knows...still we walked this league didn't we. We won't make the play offs this season for certain;hasn't really been on for a couple of months or so. I just hope that next season will live up to expectations but if getting shot of AP is what it takes to end this hideous hoof ball that Jaidi and Fonté seem to love then so be it. I hate hoofball, ball on the ground to feet and take the time to build up and create space, that's football. Chipping it over midfield is called rugby I think.

On loan from Celtic, they (Swindon) have secured some really good looking loan players, and they actually play them..way it should be really.

If you want to see a bloke who's "good on headers" look at Chamakh at Bordeaux (Arsenal next season). If you look at his goal against Panathanaikos yesterday you'll see what I mean, from the instant the wide man shapes to cross the ball there's only one intention n Chamakh's mind, head it into the net, the Greek defender doesn't have a chance, the bloke goes literally through him to head the ball without fouling him, he just sweeps the bloke away, doesn't give a toss if he breaks his arm falling, he's going to stick the ball into the back of the net, Rooney's just the same.
-
Shot stopping isn't enough in modern football, a goal keeper is the first link in the distribution chain. I prefer Bart, sometimes shaky but so much more competent on crosses and starting out our attacks.I think falling over ourselves to retain KD was a bit of a bad move really. We could have let him go and got someone more competent on CROSSES. He wouldn't lose out, we'd get a better keeper, especially with the defence we started our campaign with. No place for a flapper in goal with Perry,Thomas and Lancashire at the back.
-
Because they only see the flashy tinselled desperation saves and don't give any thought to the more humdrum and routine. It's why flash Harry strikers that score 40 goals a season always get the press awards and grim central defenders often get the vote of their peers. KD doesn't command his box and his distribution is f*ck awful but apart from that he's not so bad, provided opposition striker keep raking them in from 20 yards. Austin suckered him, and he's just out of Poole Town.
-
I predict a festival of yellow(perhaps red as well) cards. Have you seen how many MK Dons players are on 9 yellows already, must be 4 or 5. Puncheon needs to watch his step as well he's on 9 yellows ; Don't know if he got a 1 match suspension for when he was with them though. If he didn't and gets another one he may be on a 2 match ban.

Trouble is Tel is that his game is differently appreciated from one fan to another. Morgan plays classic French football, keep the ball for as long as it takes to build up an opening and then accelerate suddenly. Many fans do not like this style of play and want the ball gung-hoed up into the opponents 18 yard box as soon as possible. Also there are a few different appreciations as to what he's supposed to be doing. Normally he is a milieu recuperateur with Hammond playing the relayeur role.Of late this has often been turned round but if one is forward the other should be back.I very much doubt if Morgan will still be with Saints next season anyway so we'll have to get someone else in. Perhaps a Nobby Stiles clone who'll last about 5 minutes on the pitch every 4th game, because I'm sure that's what some fans want to see.

I love Panna Cotta, home made is best but if you're out and about KFC's isn't all that bad, probably comes out of a packet though.
-
Lescinel you mean, he isn't a trainee; he's a 24 year old who's played in the Scottish Prem and at Paris St Germain and Sedan in their Cup year. I really don't know where Solent get their facts from. In fact Swindon have acquired some decent players for nothing, loans from Leeds, Liverpool,Celtic, Skates.

I thought we missed Semi yesterday evening, gets forward, has pace, can cross and is usually available as an option. Wayne Thomas isn't a right back, just don't know why we persist with him there because he going to get skinned by anyone with anything resembling a bit of pace. It's true we have no other options but for me at least Lloyd james can cross the ball..on his better days. I hope we're preparing a good contract for Semi because without him we are foaked.
-
I think you are all overcomplicating the situation. Truth is the play-offs are too far away (and have been for some while) and the JPT has taken on far too much importance.I don't doubt that many of the players see it as our only objective. That's their current plan, beat the top teams for a bit of Kudos and win the JPT; all the rest is purely ancillary.I wouldn't be surprised if one or two have already got their move lined up for May.
-
I have just finished looking through the full 90 for the Leeds game and I am staggered that a side with our class hoofs so much. It seems to be the first reaction of Fonté and Jaidi when they have the ball to try a little dink over the top, sort of Jonny Wilkinson donkey droppers. It's such a waste.I really thought Fonté had more class than that. He always heads the ball in a sort of looping fashion as well, wastes a lot of recovered possession. To me we still haven't got enough class at Centre Back, may be alright on the defensive but there's nothing constructive that follows on.
-
Still Wilson has a really good track record of doing something with nothing. This is the man who took Barnsley to the Premier League remember. Not much too add about last night but I really do wonder if our coaching staff (not the manager) are really up to the job.I think that is an area where we need fundamental change.
