Saints v Walsall [formerly known as Warsaw] build up.

As if MK Dons are an example of fluid play or success. If you're looking for an 1.5 points per game average (a WLWL sawtooth pattern if you like) Puncheon may be the dogs bollax, but we're looking for real results. He was brought here to play outside and that's where he's most effective. -

In central midfield certainly because they have the aptitude required for that role and Lallana doesn't. A CM is basically a ball recovery merchant and I can't see him doing that. As I said yesterday AP is a nowhere man just now, he had a good spell and now just drifts in and out of games. I think a side without him might just surprise us all greatly. It would give the strikers more space and the missed chances might not go begging so often. If there's a choice between Wotton,Gillett and Lallana in CM I know who I wouldn't trust in the role. Lallana needs to move up to a side with better coaches and more cohesion, he's either wasting his time with Saints or he really isn't all that good. I hope for him it's the former.Have you noticed how few players really make the step up from League 1 football to the higher echelons?, I know Eric Mombaerts thinks it's just a no-mans land for anyone who has any sort of ability. The instant you do something useful at the very next opportunity some hod-carrier (thanks Alps) will give you a good going over and make you think twice about doing it again. -

that's the old thread, if you post on there someone will make a snide remark to that effect, even if your post is relevant to the current situation. -

How was James's "injury" looking? More importantly how much did they each take out and what did they want it for? -
what about the bloke from Bury, although he's probably turned us down a few times already.Anyway we may be looking "abroad" who knows.

looks about right, but a camel has a greater chance etc etc than Gillett getting a start under Pardew. I think Seabourne is out for a while, mind you the OS never bothers to follow up on their injury status reports. Said he was due a scan then....zilch. -
nope, it was an old thread, how do I know? because Racine was suspended for one match...last night's , or I think he was anyway.

Wotton (urggh) or Gillett, now there's an idea. Play a player with known capacities there because we have no one else.It cannot be any worse than the Puncheon/Antonio experiment on Tuesday. If it doesn't work we can always bring on Wotton instead, just like we did on Tuesday.. -

In the reserves ? or wherever it was that offered us serious money for him last summer. mind you I think the reserves is dedicated to the Under 15 s nowadays. Cannot understand our attitude towards "decent" players who no longer are in APs plans for the first team.Have we just told Gillett, Gobern,McClaggon and all those to just turn up on payday to collect the payment advice? perhaps they just don't turn up at all. -
probably gets chucked out at half-time or turns up late ooops desolé, didn't see the explanation.

Lallana in central midfield, you're having a laugh aren't you, lad can't tackle and is about as fast as a dead snail. If you want us to get arsed on,play Lallana in central midfield. -
Did I say they didn't take it seriously? I said they didn't worry about not making the final...ie it wasn't the end of the world because the money isn't great. Still I expect Leeds are getting worried about their League form though.
-
Just 100K ? just over half of the amount you get for winning in the 5th round of the FA cup and probably far less TV money to boot.No wonder clubs with serious league ambitions don't worry about not making the final. Probably get twice as much for the play-off final.
-
I merely selected you as a classic "AYE" for Pardew and GS as a classic "NAY". No offence meant then again I might actually know who you are, I know a lot of things:cool:
-
we shall see, for young players money isn't always everything.
-
it's not about the new players, it's about 3 key players, we all know who they are. The 2 younger ones have seen their international careers slip away and Lambert will fancy a shot higher up sooner or later...probably sooner.
-
If we'd got rid of him in the close season we might have got a better manager instead. Still with Rupert choosing probably him not so much, remember the Gray fiasco.
-
Not so much, the paragraph in the Echo (and other local newsrags) is based on the public statement issued by NC and broadcast on Solent. The content is hard fact, just the way various people interpret it changes. The fact that NC thought it necessary to issue public statement (and that's what it was) is fairly indicative in itself. He had something to say about our League results and wanted it to be generally known.Men like he don't tart about, not good enough means not good enough and not some wimpish gee up for the forthcoming cup games.
-
I don't know if there is a transcript of the exact statement on Solent anywhere but by reading the local press reviews of it(Echo:smt036,Andover Advertiser etc) there is direct reference to the 2 million or so investment by the owner as being designed to obtain a play-off place this season. I didn't make all this stuff up you know just to pass my leave week,it's what he said or the press reported him to have said. No play-offs=unsatisfactory in view of investment.Make your own mind up on what he meant by that but to me it it's quite clear No playoffs=75% chance bye bye Pardew.
-
I don't remember the exact wording of the statement but I seem to remember that the play-offs were the principal objective and only results in order to achieve that were considered "satisfactory".NC wanted us to return to winning ways against Norwich so exactly how he took the bore draw a Wycombe can only be guessed at.
-
Don't think so, NC will only be influenced by the result at the end of the season against the objectives set (which were probably revised during the transfers window because of the heavy outlay..for a League 1 side).I would think NC has football advisers and their opinion will count far more than 500 LGTCs and GSs. As I say, none of our opinions count, only the management and their advisers.
-
But those who have read the Gospel according to St Nicola would. I'm fairly comfortable with our results, that's not the question. The question is are the only 2 opinions who really count satisfied with our draw at Wycombe. These are the guys who hire and fire, it's up to them. NC seemed to say in his public statement that only a place in the play-offs would be considered satisfactory, so until he speaks on the matter again nobody really knows what the management opinion actually is.
-
there's probably rehab centres in Southern California for that sort of problem. Wonder what treatment you get in the sex addict places,Asian hookers 24/7 perhaps.
-
lets get this straight. Our results are OK, but they are only on a par with those of Swindon who have a team made out of odds and ends from here and there. We have spent a lot of money to obtain similar results as teams who have spent absolutely sweet fanny adams. It's not the results in themselves which will put Pardew's tenure into question but the means deployed to obtain them. If we had a striker from Poole Town and not 2 blokes who cost about 1.2 million £ our results would be absolutely spot on. It's the fact that we can't get better results than Swindon and Huddersfield that is all important. I have absolutely no idea how it will turn out, I hope we get a run of wins but I can see NC blowing AP away because of too little costing too much.
-
OTT? It's not how I see it or how you see it ,it's about how the Chairman sees it and as I say I'm not sure that he will give AP 18 months because that will put us into the middle of next season. The fans do not decide on the manager's tenure, the chairman does in consultation with the owner. If their objectives aren't being met then they will act accordingly ie Hughes at Man C.
