  1. only to Doncaster though and since they've signed Much on loan for a month doubt if they'll take Gillett again, unless they get injuries.
  2. because the enlightened few managed to convince some forumists that NO MORE didn't really mean no more.
  3. What about Stock ;)
  4. Moses is going to Wigan for not all that much money.
  5. I suspect it's palace putting it about to drum up interest, just like Doncaster did with Stock.
  6. yes he did, he said a categoric no when asked if there were any more signings. I heard him, posted it on the match reaction thread. I listen to Player version, there was no bullcrap, he gave a straight answer NO.
  7. I looked at the interview again, no meant no as far as I can grasp, perhaps I"m just too trusting.
  8. I never condone lying for whatever reason, he could have just evaded the question.
  9. So what you are saying Pat is that Pardew blatantly lied to the listening public on Saturday evening? or that he doesn't really know what is going on? or that we made a bid for a player we have no intention of signing? Can't work it out myself.
  10. He's not underperforming now, but he did at the start of the season. I'm sure that it was made aware to him.I heard (and only heard, have no evidence mind you) that after the defeat against Bristol Rovers there was a major set to between the management and the coaching staff.Arses were kicked very hard apparently.
  11. Well not all of them anyway, although our for our first game of the season we had only 2 new players on the match sheet. To me,and I'm sorry to keep on harping on about this, our biggest mistake was to start with Perry and Thomas at the back and to rely on the nucleus of strikers that couldn't score a goal against a tyro league side last season. When you have "international strikers" at your disposal you expect them to score in League 1, AP fell into this trap.Mind you if he'd scanned a few of last seasons match reaction threads he'd have been immediately much wiser about it.Also the crass substitutions at Huddersfield.
  12. I would think that if we were still trying to bring another midfielder in we'd be desperately trying to ship one out. AP says it isn't happening and that's good enough for me.
  13. the trouble with this season is that 2 teams in our division may well finish with more than 100 points each and 4 others may well ber close to 80. If you take Huddersfield as about the worst of the top teams (don't include millwall their position is false) they have 45 points from 26 games and projecting that they would finish on 79+. So having minus 10 and then taking 4 from 6 made our job ridiculously difficult. We've been getting good results but the -10 will eventually stop us making the top 6.
  14. OK, hope we think he's worth whatever figure was agreed them. However I do think we need to play him more if we really want him to stay. Morgan didn't translate what he said yesterday very precisely and it would seem to me that Papa is somewhat peturbed about his lack of playing opportunities of late.
  15. I think he means they had 8 points less than the team who were top when Lambert took over. They did get mightily tonked by Colchester very early on in the season.
  16. I think Fiorentina's attitude may depend on whether Mutu gets another ban for stimulant use or not.He could get up to 2 years apparently if his wishy washy "the mother in law left them behind" excuse for taking the tablets doesn't impress the CONI (who don't seem to be easily impressed by anything) Edit seems that that they're signing Cassano from Samp to replace him so Papa may be for sale fairly cheaply.
  17. 45 points out of 57 is certainly a long shot. Much will depend on our games against the current top 6 and Huddersfield (who are virtual 6th because they need 1 point from 2 games in hand to overtake Millwall) Winning 14 out of 19 will be exceptional really, especially as it means beating any 2 of Leeds,Norwich,Charlton,Huddersfield and Swindon and probably not losing to 2 of the others.
  18. Not surprising, he was terrible
  19. Barnard takes penalties (or took them for Southend) his open play goal count is probably something like Lallana's or Papa's (from far fewer games). A player should never be judged on his goal count if he takes penalties. Anyway at Southend he was probably the head honcho of the strike force (:smt036) and the game was played to suit his qualities, here it's probably different. some say he is far too similar to Lambert in style..
  20. Pardew keeps saying that Wotton needs a rest but he doesn't act on it. What he says is fairly vague, doesn't mean it will happen. Like this history with Danns for instance, AP says no more yet we still have a bid in for him (apparently)
  21. for the same reason as the MOM poll I guess.
  22. Millwall aren't really relevant to our case unless Huddersfield start losing matches.Millwall are above Huddersfield because they have played 2 more matches but our true position vis a vis the playoffs should not be confused by this.
  23. We don't have a game in hand over either Swindon or Huddersfield, they both have a game in hand over us. It's 18 and 15 points respectively if they should both win the game in hand that they have over us.
  24. whereas le gaffeur means some-one who makes a lot of gaffs.A blunderer . We even have a TV presenter called Vincent LeGaffe and Gaston Lagaff is a sort of Andy Capp cartoon character
