  1. Nope Belhadj dummies him, Zidane trick, there was only 1 intention in Belhadj's mind, score.
  2. Hammond I think
  3. Strange that the English idea of getting anything out of your system is by going out on the p*ss though.
  4. Nope he has no control on his header because he's not that good with his head, I think mental pace might be just Papa's biggest default, he's not instinctive in front of goal. The obvious move was back across James to the other post, same as Lallana's header really but neither player has the composure or instinct that it takes...yet. Connolly would have scored both of those, plus the other Papa chance and the shot Lallana muffed and he'd have screamed at Barnard to leave the ball alone for our offside goal. It's a real shame that Connolly isn't fit because we'd be 4 points nearer the play-offs and into the 6th Round of the Cup if he was.
  5. their fine performance or getting to Wembley on Tuesday??
  6. I would say Belhadj never has any intention of crossing the ball, Kelvin buys the dummy that's all .For the second goal (Dindane's) kelvin is on the ground too early a really brave keeper (not criticising Kelvin though) would have come out at his feet but Kelvin hasn't got the pace to do that any more, should have stood his ground though, he's diving even before Dindane has decided what to do, might have been effective at speed on a wet pitch but on a billiard table like St Mary's he was never going to slide far enough to skittle Dindane. Anyway it's not really his fault,Perry's error and the gung ho attacking left him in impossible situations.
  7. I would think he may well interest one of the CCC sides promoted to the Premier League, scores goals and can no doubt provide others. We may have improved his fitness to a level he's never had before making him a totally different proposition to the one we bought.
  8. It's possible if we win 15 out of 18 and draw 2 of the others. Means beating Leeds and Charlton at home though.
  9. plus if you have to move Jaidi,Thomas and Hammond into the box for every corner because your main striker is out wide taking the set pieces you're certainly going to get stung on the break sooner or later, these 3 not being Usain Bolt replicas. Why Harding doesn't take them or Morgan (because he can, I've seen him do it) I've no idea? It's what AP wants but why beats me.Antonio put in a delicious cross yesterday, he must be able to take a corner of some sort.
  10. Someone has to become an example for all the others, with a bit of luck it will be them,
  11. as I said yesterday, midfielders don't take corners or free kicks in our set up, I have no idea why. I have heard the theory expounded on occasions that it puts them out of the game if the move breaks down and the opposition surge forward. I'm sure that Morgan,Deano and Antonio can take good dead ball kicks but that AP doesn't want them too.Morgan used to take free kicks and penalties for the French U20s, it's the managers choice more than anything else. On to other things. I watch my recording again this morning and noticed that for our first clear cut chance it's Lambert that provides the cross to Waigo after he is fed out on the left by Lallana, found that a bit strange because in theory Antonio should have been out there and Rickie in the box to nod it in. Antonio is a good wingman but where he was on that occasion i don't know, I'll have to look again. Edit. I've had a look and see that Antonio is coming back towards our half when Deano and Morgan break down the Pompey attack and send Lallana forward, but he doesn't turn instantly and go forward, for some reason or other he jogs back towards our own goal a few strides.
  12. Belhadj is a really good player, especially if you don't get constant pressure on him, can't understand why he's still at Pompey, thought he was being sold in the last window. We should try to buy him :)
  13. I don't know, he came out and picked off a couple of corners pretty well yesterday.
  14. Lallana should have screamed at him to leave it,perhaps he did though.
  15. dunno, haven't got a guide dog
  16. Not compared to the one about goal times
  17. Well yes but compared to our lady with the FA cup strapped onto her head.........
  18. Looking at the table I'd be amazed if anyone gets into the play-offs with much less than 80 points.I just can't see anyone going into a tailspin and not getting at least 28 points from their remaining games.
  19. Fonté and Seabourne would haved laughed Skate's attack off the pitch today.
  20. cos Wilson isn't a premier quality defender that's for sure.
  21. Once again I'm sure he knows perfectly well how to strike a ball,he's probably not quick enough in his analysis of the situation though and it's that that lets him down.Like Papa, on his second chance there were two options, heading it or a scissors kick, so he tries to control it and just lobs it to James.Mercurial mental process is what makes great strikers.
  22. Have you not noticed, midfied players aren't allowed to take set pieces at Saints. James took them when he was playing full back, then it was Mills, now it's Lambert. I just guess that AP doesn't want his midfielders out of the game if we get hit on the break. It's a strange decision, I'm sure that they all know perfectly well how to take corners and free-kicks. It's about the system rather than incompetence at the task.Lallana brings nothing to the aerial threat from set pieces,he still doesn't take them though, although he knows perfectly well how to.
  23. that's what happened, Jaidi,Thomas and Hammond were all in their box and we gave the ball away, two gift goals really.
  24. must say that I didn't really notice O'Hara apart from his long range effort that Kelvin had to tip over the bar.Pompey's threat came from Belhadj getting forward and giving Thomas a hard time.Plus when you're using a static right back like Thomas you get nothing from him on the attacking side. But we played well and should have won, if we'd have had Connolly instead of Lallana we would have.
  25. So are we all no doubt, but our lack of clinical finishing really lets us down time after time and not just this season, it's been going on for 4 or 5 years now.
