He did replace him-with Thomas and then Andrew Davies, two glass men with far less ability put together than Baird.
-
Good to see Chris Baird getting regular starts for Fulham though. Hodgson has sorted him out. Started 16 out of 19 league games I think. Did a good job against Crouch yesterday (according to my cousin)
-
Fulham are a good side though, probably better than Man U pound for pound. (By that I mean Man U have better players but perhaps don't get a much out of them as Hodgson does from his cheapies) Rooney is overated and Giggs is old, way too old. Man U are nothing without Ronaldo, well not so much anyway. Wait till Morgan starts playing for Fulham, see how good he really is--oh what a giveaway;)

I'd wager we start with Perry and Jaidi tomorrow.

No doubt he thought he'd get far more out of Saga than he actually did. I mean the blokes got a good pedigree,he just wasn't up for 3rd Division football. These are Pardew's word after the defeat at Swindon "We looked nervous once we conceded the goal but we got better as the half went on and started to dominate. "The second half I felt we kind of bossed the second half a little bit and we had some good chances and once you get the goal you think you can go on and win the game, that's how I see it but we just couldn't get the goal." And yet we had Lambert,Rasiak and Saganowski at our disposition. Come now, tell me you wouldn't expect Saga,Rasiak and Lambert to be able to score 1 goal against Swindon. We were poor at the start of the season and it may cost us a play-off place. 4 points from Millwall,Stockport,Swindon,Huddersfield,Brentford and Carlisle (was it?) is p*ss poor and no matter what happened pre-season we should have done better with the players at our disposition. It's been corrected but it took too long. NB Harding has played all League games hasn't he, he was certainly on the pitch against Swindon,
-
I'm sure we all expected more than 4 points from the first 6 games though. Including the players and the management team.
-
they got a better start that's all. Our first 6 games were catastrophic, since then we're as good as anyone.
-
Agreed and we'll have to count ourselves lucky if he is still here come 30 days.

There seems to be a nucleus of fans on this forum who just have to find fault with some player or other no matter what. They all have good games, bad games and indifferent games but some can do no wrong and some very little right. I've been watching Arsenal, as they are totally toothless in the last 25 yards everything they do which is good in midfield goes down the pan when one of thir forward players gets involved. They dominate but still look totally clueless. It's the same for most teams, if a player is sub par he often makes all those playing with him look crap. Yesterday Lambert was off colour, everything that was put up for him looked mediocre, justly because he didn't do what was expected of him with it.

If we get to the play-offs we will win them, but getting there is not so certain. The gap is still way too big,if we win tomorrow I might revise my opinion but not until then.I still think our central defence is too weak against big, fast strikers with a bit of skill. We need to score early tomorrow to make them come at us and leave us room to play in midfield.
-
The trouble with this arguement is that our games against Leeds,Charlton and Norwich won't change anything for them. They already have enough points to coast into at least the play-offs failing automatic promotion (which will be the case for at least one of them) We need to take points off them but they will still not sink to a position outside the top 6.Our games against MK Dons,Huddersfield,Bristol Rovers and Colchester (not to mention Swindon) are more important as far as taking points off them is concerned.3 at home and 2 away, trouble is they can come to SMS for a point and be happy with it.If that sort of side park the bus then we might struggle.
-
Another 38 points would leave us way short of the play-offs,cos we'd only have a total of 66. We need about 45/48 points and maybe even 50.The 6th placed club must be looking at 75/76 just now seeing that they have already half of that,be it Swindon or Huddersfield, don't forget that if Swindon win 1 of their 2 games they'd be above MK who would become 6th with Huddersfield or BR breathing down their necks in 7th and 8th but still on 37 or 38 points. MK Dons might start to splutter but with 2 other clubs ready to take their place it will be hard for us.We have 23 games left, we need to win 14 or 15 of them and get a couple of draws.

Aha M.Perrin, did you know that you got sacked again the other day? By St Etienne this time
-
They probably do understand football, but of a certain type, usually a throwback to the schoolboy game or football as it was played in the 60s and 70s. Today's football is a cultured game, that's why there is always so much debate about the relative merits of players.Messi and Torres are certainly the world's best players, but some couldn't see their merits compared to say Steve Bull or Emile Heskey.

But with Exeter's first half structure it was up to the full backs to get forward as the midfield was completely saturated because Exeter were playing 5 or 6 in there. They started a sort of 3-5-1-1, not much space to get forward in, but James and Harding were freed up to get forward. -

I think you're wrong, when James has been available to play at RB during Murty's absences (ie not required in midfield) he has always got the nod. There is something about Thomas that AP doesn't care for, either at CD or RB. He plays him when he absolutely has to because there is no other viable choice. The team for Monday will be as it was today except for Jaidi in place of Trotman and perhaps Papa instead of Antonio. -

and the alternative at RB?? AP obviously doesn't think Thomas is the man for that job so that leaves LJ as the unique candidate for the time being. -

it's a possibility Depends on other teams rather than ourselves Depends if our final result + 10 pints would have given us automatic promotion

No doubt he will be.But the players that really count on Monday will be Lambert,Connolly, Morgan,Lallana and Jaidi. Players of a superior class who can move it up a notch when they have to. -

Winning by any means on Monday is far far more important than winning 86-0 today. Everybody knows that and the lads did what they had to. -
