well not the Cantona bit, I made that up, the rest however is a precis of the short (but wiry) thread on his site today which was brought to my attention a while ago.
-
Nick apparently explained what went wrong on the UI today. Said it's no good buying a load of ammunition if your Kalashinikovs haven't arrived-yet. Make of that what you will. He's been reading Cantona instead of Kant to help his kids with their philosophy homework.

I'd hope the turnover is at least 14 million, otherwise we are maxi-browned. A chairman of a football club does what any other CEO does, conducts the orchestra and bangs heads together when the melody goes out of sync or out of tune.
-
I think he'll go with a little more bite in midfield, Wotton instead of DMG.
-
True, what we need is a new quarterback and some 300 lb linemen.

Dinking and Dunking is grid-iron speak. Means progressing by way of short passes.

overheard in a Boston bar. "Hey, see the Patriots?" "Yeah, they sucked" "I couldnt believe their defense. Totally sucked" "I know. Cassel sucks too. What do you think Belichick is going to do" "Aw, he sucks now. He was good for a couple of years. Now hes totally retarded" "Yeah. How about the Sox" "They suck. I cant even watch them anymore" "Yeah, Ortiz sucks. Ellsbury too" "They've sucked since Schilling got hurt" "Ahh, he was startin to suck anyway" "And Beckett got hurt.." "He was great last year. Now he sucks" "Sucks" "Francona got lucky last year" "Yeah, without Manny he sucks" "Yeah, Theo's a jerk" "Lets go to Dunkin Donuts" "Yeah, this coffee I got sucks"

Wotton doesn't need to pass very far,he needs to be there in front of the back 4 winning the ball, dinks and dunks to Surman and Smith, they'll know what to do with it.From reports that I've had of reserve games Ryan Smith looks a bit handy, still I got that from my niece and she goes on looks rather than ability.

What money, there is no dividend because we don't make any profits. Hasn't been since I was in short trousers, well 2004 at least.Share buy back? would have financed about a month's wages for a premiership player.

Patience and Prudence circa 1956??

How is it "nearly double" then compared to say Coventry. presume (and I'm not going to check this) that £390 is the price for exactly the same category of ticket. A matchday ticket at Coventry is £24 same as us.We had march madness when our tickets were the same price as Coventry's.

Morgan is out, give over with Skacel-you know it ain't gone to happen-Gillett is fit and raring to go. It's all on the OS. James will play right back, Mills on the left.Perry+Lancashire Cork Wotton Surman Smith in midfield with Cork protecting James and Smith protecting Mills Lallana hanging off the front Robertson lone striker
-
Yes but by those standards you'd have to blame the students and teens as well. They get the same price.Seniors are oft the people with the most money nowadays, index linked pension schemes be praised.

I'm sure that if someone put up the average CCC gates you'd see that we're in the top middle as well.We used to get big crowds,we have a relatively big ground, percentage of seats filled figures mean nothing. To quote Rupert when he sacked Gray "We"re not building a stadium for the Nationwide".
-
Not so Our attendances are down on a greater percentage basis than many others. Apart from a few teams we are still getting reasonable gates for the CCC. One of our main problems is that we seem to have a near-Southampton core base of about 9000 fans and the rest is scattered about the country randomly. I would suspect if you compared that to say the 16K they got at Palarse when they were playing their neighbours Charlton, you would find that the vast majority live within a short drive or train ride of the stadium. As we can see from SOG's post it's not just the £24 to go to the game in that case, it's petrol or diesel which have rocketed lately, it's food on route because you need 3 hours to get here.We probably have fans dobbing out £70 or so for every home game, when a "credit crunch" starts to bite and your mortgage goes up along witth your bill at Tescos etc ,football becomes a luxury you can't afford.I would think the area in which our fan base has dwindled the most is the 32-40 year old, married 2 kids,150K mortgage section. Students will be hard pressed financially this year as well. It has now been 3 seasons since we got relegated, 1 complete higher education cycle.Kids who started going in their 1st Uni year are now gone from the City, perhaps the incoming haven't replaced them.

Yes well as I say unless Lowe et al and Wilde actually sell their holding there will be no takeover (or investment as some quaintly put it). The fact that they came "storming back" was because their investment was disintegrating. If the "investors" had the wherewithal then they would have sold out (thus protecting their investment in another way). Crouch's investors didn't have the money, that's why Mike Wilde asked for proof of funds. All this is public domain knowledge. We were talking to them after Lowe and Wilde came back, they didn't have the swans, we told them stop tarting about. It's all in the LSE notifications.Lowe and Wlde will be here UNTIL SOMEONE HAS THE MONEY TO MAKE THE DISAPPEAR, end of...

Well yes, because it's not possible afterwards. He could only sign on loan for a maximum of 93 days if he signed AFTER the 1st September. We'd have to wait until 1st January to give him a full transfer contract.
-
So then this season's attendance is conditional on last seasons performances. A ST (early bird) on the half way line is £500 or £22 per home game. On the "March Madness" scheme it would have been about £80 less I expect,so the home game cost about £18.50. Interest free credit to boot I think. There is no validity in this ticket price guff, not if you were a season ticket holder and could have renewed uner the MM scheme. That the football was crap, now that I do buy. Big money team that has nigh on bankrupted the club for tinpot dire performances, yep that explains it very well;Last season we were catastrophically badly run, neither of the present incumbent was involved with that....Dodd and Gorman what a fook up supreme. We were bad under Burley, should have been sacked early on,wasn't, then he left and we got the comedy duo when there were plenty of cheap candidates waiting in the wings. If we'd got Pearson THEN, he might still be here.

It's an academic arguement? LC had his chance to find some "investors". Trouble with all that is that he's a minority shareholder. If his "investor" can't produce the financial clout to convince the majority shareholding groups of their plans for the club then LC could stay in charge 1000 years and we wouldn't be taken over. He just found Fulthorpe et al, they don't seem to have the wherewithal.Nothing stopping Crouch from selling them HIS shareholding and letting them try to convince others of their plans.Mary Corbett could do the same, then they'd have 16% or so as a working base. There are a few other bits and bobs floating about out there as well. Let them get to 29% first and then proposition either Wilde or the Lowe clique. Why can't they do that, ah no money, yep that's always a bugger. It's catch 22, they need control to get the money, but they won't get control without the money.Mike Wilde as good as said "flash the cash and I'm listening, if you can't p!ss off".
-
Yes he is, he gets paid for 2 days a week. It's public knowledge, said so himself. Said it was "all we can afford". Mike Wilde gets nothing, expenses from Jersey from time to time perhaps. As he's only allowed what 75 days a year in the UK he probably turns up about once every 2 weeks.
-
Why didn't they renew their season tickets then?, wouldn't have cost £28 a game then. Presuming they went to QPR that would have cost them £30. So they go to QPR at £30 but not to SMS where they could have gone for £24 (or less if they'd renewed their STs).I presume the Sheff U game cost a tenner because it was last chance saloon and when you know you're being kicked out on the morrow you can do whatyever you want, the finances are no longer your problem. In fact it might have been done to stick up the proverbial two to the incoming administration. Talking away the 13500 ST holders,16500 at £10=6895x£24.
-
Because he thinks we do, the bank might well think we do as well.On the salary front I doubt if 80K a year is going to change much, shift Rudi and we'll save 6 times as much. Rupert Lowe (and his clique) and Mike Wilde own a controlling interest in the club.Until someone is prepared to step up with enough filthy lucre it doesn't matter what you, I or Uncle Tom Cobbley think of their continuing usefulness.
-
There is no contradiction, one says he hasn't moved to the south coast yet, the other talks about contract. Never signed a contract for a job that starts in the future? If you signed a contract today for the 1st of January 2009 it would still be valid although it is as yet non operative.

Yep ,award yourself the C.D.M

Well I would have thought that would have been obvious. If you listen to some of our co-forumists the diabolic duo find ways of not paying players that aren't injured so paying a player who was injured from the start:-
