Excellent. Especially with Abbott unable to bowl today. What ails him ? 8 points ahead of Surrey now. Don't think Northants have much chance of actually beating them next week, but with a bit of bad weather and a great need of points perhaps a draw.
-
Probably need at least two more wickets before the close. Not sure that we'll get them though. Bowling looks pretty inoffensive and Northants are obviously playing for the draw. Works every time, Barker suddenly produces a snorter to get Procter caught behind.
-
Quite a good start today, Northants now 5 down. Donald not at all bad behind the stumps.
-
Wicket looking pretty innoccous so far. Seem to bowling a bit wide as well.
-
Weather forecast looks distinctly unpromising. Tomorrow and Thursday no better. Might not get much more play at all in this game. Pity, we look to be in quite a good position. Might not even bowl at all.
-
Still no play for us. Most of the other games seem to have avoided the rain.....so far at least. Not a good toss to lose. Northants would probably have been 3 or 4 down by now. Can't see us making very many batting points. Wicket is green and bounce seems a bit uneven, runs are hard to come by.
-
Hmm, no Brown in the side today, he was in the group announced yesterday. Seem to remember that Donald kept wicket on occasions at Glamorgan, but that's a long time ago. Don't remember anyone else in the XI announced ever keeping wicket, could be wrong though.

Rightyho, back to the serious stuff on Monday, Northants at the Aegeas. Should have all of our players available after the shorter format interlude. Don't think many of them covered themselves with glory in the Hundred, although Dawson did seem to have bowled fairly well when I looked at the scorecard. Got himself included n the group for the Pakistan T20 series and is travelling reserve for the WC. Vince ,I think had an atrocious series and Brave got dumped out quickly. Presume it will be about the usual CC eleven , unless the wicket is expected to spin a bit and in that case Crane may be included.
-
Extras were among the problems. Then again we've been bowling short and wide throoughout the competition, luck just ran out a bit too soon. For me the lack of a front line spinner was a biggsh factor. They probably wouldn't have hit Dawson for 72 off of 10 overs. That said Currie and Campbell were too expensive as well. Have we not a full time spinner in the younger players? If that's the case it doesn't bode well for the future. Prest bowls a bit but obviously his type of spin wasn't thought to be worth much.
-
Good game, lacked a experienced bowler today though, real spinner too maybe. So onwards to the CC now.
-
Need to get Robinson out soon, if not we'll be struggling.
-
Probably be enough. Good start, got bogged down a bit in the middle (well only 5 an over that is) and then we saw some pretty innovative batting from Albert and Organ, including a sort of reverse pull from Albert that went for 4. Must be noted that 4 of our batters got out to reverse sweeps, 2 bowled, 2 lbw. No commentary on the stream today, well at least on my stream, what's that about then ? Strike, price of gas or Sky diffusion ?

Although they kinda did. Glamorgan finished above Yorks as well.
-
Our bowling really isn't very good. Good job we have a lot of runs to play with , perhaps that's the plan though. Invite them to slog until they make mistakes.
-
Yorks will have attack our total and over 6 an over isn't easy. They'll need to win because Glamorgan will surely beat Worcs, probably with a biggish positive RR.
-
Tidy score, should be enough.
-
Suspense packed day in our group tomorrow. Hants need to beat Yorks to secure first place, Yorks need to beat Hants to get third place. Kent need to beat Lancs to qualify for the knock-out games, provided that is that Yorks don't beat Hants, and Lancs , like us, need to win their game to go directly into the semis. Weather forecast seems to be neutral, overcast but mainly dry at both grounds. Quite looking forward to the contest myself, if we could stop the short stuff and leg side wides, that would be a bonus.
-
good win, didn't see all of the game, football at Clermont this afty, good batting at the end though, made quite a difficult target. Still not assured of first place though, Tuesday may be difficult again.
-
Poor all round. Didn't score enough, bowled too short throughout their innings, got hammered by a second teamer, lost. Will need to do much better on Sunday.
-
The Daffs absolutely cruising, chasing just 229. Will need a really big miracle this time.
-
Not getting any better, Donald runs himself out with a stupid single and Middleton leg before.
-
Slow going this morning. Hants put in by Glams and only Gubbins looks at ease, perhaps because he's a lefty. Brown and Prest couldn't seem to score and were out for 2 and 6.
-
Lancs just can't get over losing that final can they ! There was still a bit of residual needle in the game today. I see that Brave cruised to another defeat again this evening. Vince scoring like a tortoise. They probably won't make the knock-out stage.
-
This was discussed a bit during the commentary. The opinion seemed to be that ditching players who got you to the final wouldn't be cricket. Doesn't mean it won't happen though, particularily those who haven't had great success. Maybe Vince or Weatherley for say Donald . Still there a lot of games still to go before any eventual final.

Hants managed to bowl out Lancs for 183 but are seriously struggling to score runs in their turn now. Lancs are using their championship bowling attack I think and our lads look short on technique.
