Then as the games had already gone ahead the aggregate would be 4-2 in favour of Boro, thus them participating in the final as is so. We would have then probably been relegated one or two divisions for systematic cheating. But this is English Football where several entities make their own rules and nothing is standard. In any other country City, Chelsea Everton et al would be playing, albeit temporarily , in régional leagues for their financial losses.

They are no doubt convinced, rightly or wrongly, that we've been "cheating" at least since the turn of the year and that we've gotten the come uppance we deserve . They might feel aggrieved, probably wrongly, that there was no VAR in the return leg which would probably have awarded them 2 penaltys and Matsuiki sent off.

Apparently we tried, initially, to mislead the enquiry, stating that none of the information captured by Salt at Boro was transmitted or used in planning our game. I suppose they found some sort of evidence to the contrary from Salt or phone records and then we had to admit it, didn't go down at all well. Usually doesn't, cheating and then lying about it.

Apparently Salt was supposed to go back again the following day, or so say the WhatsApp messages quoted somewhere or other.
