all I can comment on is from my own experiences and not talk on such broad and hysterical terms like some during the evil tory/maggie years...my family moved on from generations of social poverty (to a degree) and stood on their own feet.. they moved from millbrook towers, shirley warren and millbrook estate etc into (over the years) their own houses/home that they own that they can pass on to my cousins/me etc....and I in turn will do the same.. in one swoop..nearly the whole of my family moved away from social poverty, living in bed sits, tower blocks..the old womans refuge in st denys..... and went alone and have never looked back.... and this was a family that were staunch kinnock supporters and demo attendees... how anyone acn lay the blame of lack of housing at maggies door is stupid....ALL parties have ignored this issue by not building....not building enough and allowing mass immigration..which meant and mean supply severely outstrips demand...and that still is the case.. even in the cash binge of 1998-2008...how much was really done to address the housing issue once and for all...?

It's was a good thing.. We cry for our poor students that they may never get in the property ladder... The right to buy enabled people to do just that.. Sure it was not perfect but it helped.. My family back them were staunch labour... My nan was a member of the labour party and took me on poll tax demos.. My family had nothing and for generations grew up in social housing in poor condition.. I grew up in bed sits etc.. When my mum had the chance to buy our council flat.. She took it and has never looked back.. She lived there for about 15 years.. Sold it at an almighty profit about 6 years ago and now lives a better life than we/she thought was possible back in 1990 ish... Same can be said for my aunty an an uncle.. Instead of living in a **** hole of a tower block.. Took the gamble when right to buy came out.. Lived with it for a few years and dramatically improved their quality of life... That in my family is a fact.. Sure there are no doubt horror stories.. But I can't thank that scheme enough for helping out my family in millbrook... No.. Whether enough housing was ordered is another debate an something all parties are guilty of not dealing with

Talk about OTT So you really think in today's world that of maggie never happened we would still be sending people down mines at the rate we did..(more mines closed under the previous labour govt)...
