Don’t disagree. As I’ve said, Che may have scored enough to make him a worthwhile striker to keep hold of, but if between him and Armstrong he’s the only striker we’ve received a decent offer for AND if funds are needed to obtain a striker who fits the squad makeup better, well for a ‘selling club’ on a limited budget he could well be a likely candidate.
-
We don’t just have the two strikers though now. We’ve got Mara, Aribo and Stu Armstrong who are capable in the role. What these guys don’t necessarily provide is the target man type of play, so that’s the type of player I would expect us to sign…perhaps Dembele? Whatever, it seems that the rumour mill expectation is that we need to sell to gain the level of striker we want in.
-
I’d be happy replacing him with Broja because I think he has demonstrated his value in the role, however I’m sure we’ve got a number of other promising targets. If the club needs to raise funds for an upgrade in the striker ranks, would you rather we sell Adams or KWP?
-
Perhaps ‘waned’ was too strong - stagnated, gone sour? Scoring for fun, he was the talk of the town in the Championship and even being Saints ‘best’ striker (not hard!) he’s not really matched expectations as an Ings replacement. I’ve never thought he looked like a player that would really push on because he just doesn’t seem to be able to get into scoring positions consistently enough. That may have something to do with the system we employ, but if it doesn’t suit him entirely then best for him and us that he moves on. That said, I’d be happy for him to stay and prove he can be better.
-
Why baffling? Adams career has effectively waned here, whereas Broja’s has risen and (perhaps arguably) has more potential to offer. As I’ve written above, we can’t afford to have two ineffective strikers on the books and Armstrong probably suits Ralph’s playbook more than Adams does, so guess who will go if a decent offer comes in?
-
My view is that between them, Armstrong and Adams have been seen as a disappointment due to the fact that they were both high scoring strikers in the Championship that should have made the step up to the Prem with relative ease, but simply have not done so. Yes Adams has more goals, but Armstrong has mobility and the option to play as a wide attacker which suits Ralphball better. Adams probably fetches more money because of his goals and ability to be a target man for a club that plays to those strengths, so if a decent offer comes in and that adds to the funds available to buy Broja or one of the other decent strikers we’ve been linked to, it’s not going to be a bad bit of business. Rather sell Adams than KWP that’s for sure!

Agree. Have this horrible feeling that the club will revert to type…miss out on key strikers because we need to sell the Crown Jewels to pay for said target(s) in a last minute rush, with the collective quality of the squad not improving as a result. This season is not the time to be selling KWP IMO.
-
Fixed it for you.😉

This seasons kit designs have really hit the mark…. i.e. confirmed why I don’t get too bothered about new kits and will certainly not be buying any of them. Having said that, the black training top with the waves is ok.
-
Little point Saints building up the squad with some youth/quality to then decimate that quality with a last minute sale of our best players. If they think this is a good idea and are seriously considering it, then SR deserve relegation and loss of investment as a result. Sell players yes, but only when a head of steam has been built up.
-
Yes think that’s a good guess at the starting line up - Aribo presents minimal risk / high gain. I do think there’s a chance Bazunu will start (and hope so). The only other possibility is that he thinks Djenepo is a better bet than Perraud - I wouldn’t put it past Ralph.
-
Well obviously if we’re not so lucky, I’m expecting the result to be worse than 3-0. Don’t think it’s necessary to get any more accurate if it turns out that bad! Who knows, Ralph may get his game plan spot on and the players perform out of their collective skins and we breeze a win - would be desirable but unlikely on the balance of the limited evidence we’ve seen over the last 20 games.
-
Really don’t understand what you’re saying here…I didn’t write anything about ‘bog standard’ or 6-0. It’s just my prediction for this game and I’ve provided clear rationale why I think that. How can I ‘throw out the bunting’ when the games not even been played yet? 🤣
-
Fantastic goal and pleased he’s opened his account. Let’s hope he’s not ‘cashed out’ already and that’s the last of his creativity and flair. Reminded me a bit of what Djenepo tries to do, but fails mostly.
-
It is silly season is it not?!?
-
Could be ugly. We’ve got new faces, but no greater goal threat. Build up play looks just like end of last season as far as I can see and Ralph is unlikely to drop Bednarek. 3-0 to Spurs if we’re lucky.
-
Absolutely this. My take is we’ve got a better squad than Ralph’s results indicate. He’s just not getting the best from them.
-
Just how much shitter can Redmond get? I would be happy to see him released for f -all and a youngster given a chance.
-
Ralph’s looking dazed and confused not knowing what to do next. Meanwhile Emery brings on 5 subs to affect the game. Think my enthusiasm at the start of the week was premature!😂
-
Minute Bednarek is back in the team we look vulnerable at the back. Terrible defending.
-
I hope not - far more important to get Mara up to speed IMO. Glad I didn’t pay to watch this though - very lacklustre.
-
Still can’t get a stream to work 😔

Spat some beer out moment - brilliant! -
You may well be right about his value, especially to us. Fact is he must be central to Ralphball’s plans and losing him now would put a spike in the transfer strategy, especially with Smallbone going out on loan. I don’t think we can afford to lose JWP now (and I can’t believe I’m saying this when I’ve doubted his ability in the past)…he has improved that much.
-
Close thread? Highly unlikely we’ve got the funds for him anyway if WH failed at £30m. Oh well, there’s others as good or better…
