Interesting timing of the announcement today of a new push to create a new league. Some might think City are driving the agenda here.

So for me it’s not just about the available points, it’s about the likelihood of taking those points. Based largely on the Manager knowing how to coach and tactically outshine his counterparts, we’ve got little chance of the consistent improvement necessary. He might get it right by some fluke 50% of the time, but there’s little margin for error and we need a near perfect run of results from here until season end. To say we’re not cut adrift is wrong in my estimation - we need to catch the teams above us who will also be picking up points so it’s a moving target. Nope, as much as I would love to think otherwise, our goose is cooked and relegation is pretty much nailed on.

No, but Grimsby might! 🤣

I watched the video from start to end and I thought it very open and transparent as best as they could allow. Questions were largely good - a couple or so which frankly were pointless. The one thing I was amazed not to hear was a question around why nothing has changed in terms of style and performance, despite several months and a World Cup break.
-
I would have thought the answer to that was an eminently obvious "yes"! More experienced competent backline - tough midfield with players able to move into the attacking third (and score + Morgan on the bench!) - Mane and Pelle (with Tadic on the bench!).
-
Great quote - where did that come from?

Stoke and Swansea fans are arguably crying more! Think it's worth also remembering who the manager was and the team that got us to these giddy heights - was it THAT much better than the squad now and is there anyone from the squad 8 years ago still in the side? Quite revealing really.

Oh there is. Nathan Jones clearly does. I suspect Bree and Bednarek do too - possibly others like JWP. Then there’s his family. There’s probably a few thousand softies in the fan base that are still thinking “better the devil you know” or have just given up caring or actually fancy some time in the lower leagues again. I actually do believe NJ came in with the instruction to play just like Ralph did and others before him. The Southampton Way if you like. More fool him I say, because anyone with half a brain cell could see that was not working. When I saw the first couple of games I knew he’d fail, because it was clear nothing had changed…we still played the same turgid, slow paced, backwards/sideways passing football with no attacking threat. But worse as we’d lost any form of identity. Perhaps Nathan can make things better by doing it his way. Personally I don’t think that’s going to work with a squad of players not built in his mould…they’ve already started revolting if rumours are true. From the moment he admitted defeat and effectively exposed the club/players/fans he was figuratively speaking a dead man walking. He will continue to fail on Saturday and Wolves must be licking their lips given he’s largely given away his game plan. It could be ugly indeed.

I’m not so sure this time. Not really been following the story in detail, but following the UEFA investigation there’s much higher level of scrutiny over the FA’s ability to self regulate and the thought is that given the huge significance of the allegations, the FA will need to be seen to throw the book at them. We shall see, but it’s almost as intriguing as a NJ training session. 🤪

Well I didn’t label them cretins, but I agree with your point.
-
Hiring him in the first place? I think the big test will be in who they install instead, IF indeed they decide to fire him. Talksport we’re reporting that he had a stay of execution so it’s not a done deal just yet.

Tomorrow being Tuesday. Righto.

Following the news of the FA charging Man City with over 100 counts of alleged cases of breaking ffp rules, I was wondering about the effects sanctions might have on SFC if the charges are upheld. Talksport were saying that MCFC would have known about the charges for quite some time. 1. Obviously there’s what may happen if they’re deducted points or even relegated…would that be one of the three slots gone giving SFC a small lifeline? 2. Would there be implications regarding any of the previous player sales to us? For example, if the finances have been inaccurate would sell-on fees etc be discounted? Would any of the actual player sales themselves be investigated, particularly with Joe F’s involvement? 3. We’re supposedly going to see a senior MCFC Management figure join the club in the summer as Director of Football. Would this be put into question for any reason? Any others?

Jones has in fact been quite canny in his meltdown, albeit contradictory. He says he takes responsibility and thanks the owners for spending on new players. Maybe that’s saved his skin for another shit-show vs Wolves?
-
That would be extremely irresponsible by the Board, if only from the point of view that Jones does not deserve the mental anguish that he will inevitably suffer. Not only that, but if there’s a glimmer of PL survival hope, not winning this game would surely be the final nail.
-
It’s a crying shame Jones has failed to galvanise the squad and make it work, but whatever he’s been doing since he arrived has clearly not worked. It would be wrong however not to include Selles and the other coaches in the criticism, unless of course they’ve had no voice in tactics and training which is not what we’re led to believe by Jones. If Jones has been badly affected by the derision from various quarters then we have a clear sign that he’s not a good choice to lead an elite top level football team…you have to rise above that and as someone else has said, have total belief in yourself from the get go.
-
Can’t see Jones being here for this one…he’s blown his credibility with the squad. If by some chance however the Board decide to let him commit career suicide then it’s going to be an ugly affair with a significant loss. We’re down and relegated already thanks to ineffective management top to bottom in the club, so in some respects the result is irrelevant, but watching the slow and painful demise of my football club will be hard to take. Wolves to win comfortably 0-3 (possibly worse).
-
We can but hope. There have been some significant managerial appointment failures in the past, but this one takes the biscuit. The due diligence in choosing him was clearly negligent…he’s not ready and may never be. To be fair on Jones, once selected he was not likely going to turn down the opportunity, but then there’s a bit of me thinking he’s delusional enough to believe his own hype. Sacking him will be the easy job…the very hard part will be choosing a competent, respected replacement.
-
And there it is…player drifts into the area unmarked…goal. You could see it coming. I called 3-0. Jones really needs to go immediately - he is way out of his depth. Even JWP has turned shit under his stewardship.
-
Oh dear, here we go…Lavia leaving the field and Walcott on means another goal for them.
-
2-0 down at half-time. Jones you are an absolute fraud. Get out of this club.
-
Utter rubbish defending. Nobody picking up the runner…again. I’m convinced this is a facet that oppo managers know we can’t defend against. Knew it would come just before half time too. Now just go Jones… you’re a disgrace to the League.
-
Nathan, with all respect, can I request that you put on a couple of real attacking players? You know, the type that pass to their own players and look like a threat on the opposition goal. Please.

Another absolute shambles from Ely-no-use-y
