We could snatch a win, but I think a draw is more likely... 1-1.
-
Outstanding result and more than many would hope dream for.
-
Looking good. Pirez and others in the home side completely flake over - if our players breath on them they just collapse and the ref isn’t seeing it. Ings soooo unlucky...the second strike to hit the bar was beautifully hit. Would like to see a little more battling from Long and Redmond...compared to Armstrong and JWP they’re not fighting for every ball. Can see them nicking a lucky win at the end as we tire. At 1-1 the next goal will be telling.

The eyes of the World will likely be on this one...let’s face it, last result embarrassment, plucky little Saints clawing their way back up, Lineker and his media mates clambering for another drubbing etc., so it will be a big test of Ralph’s managerial capacity and the players mentality to believe in themselves that will be instrumental in the result. As long as there’s no more than a difference of 2 goals in the score, I think we could say “job done” and my prediction is 3-1 to the Foxes. Having said that, the way we’ve been playing, we might just be able to nick a 1-2 win if very, very lucky.

Saints 2 Huddersfield 0 - Match & Reactions Thread
Saint Fan CaM replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
Oh boy, thank goodness for the youth coming through - most of those senior players should hang their heads in shame. Thought Vokins in particular looked promising again and his goal was very well taken. JWP had an Ok game, but made mistakes that would have been crucified by a better team. Gunn had nothing to do. Yoshi and Vestergaard were just OK, but not great...a mistake waiting to happen. Long was unlucky not to score and as usual worked hard. Romeu was OK, but slow in play...rusty or complacent? Danso, Boufal and Adams were awful...offered next to nothing and made up the numbers. I agree with the comment above that Adams didn’t look too pleased with Vokins goal...he’s missed out again and it’s clearly hurting him. I think his time is up with us. -

Rubbish 1st half - thank goodness I didn’t waste money on tickets. Adams STILL looks completely out of his depth with nothing to offer...never making the right moves in the box to anticipate opportunities. Just check out who’s on VAR duty - Mr. “Bias” Moss I believe, so no wonder he ruled what was a VERY close offside against us. Huddersfield have grown more confident as time as moved on and I can see this going to a replay or us being stuffed by a stupid defensive error or on the break. Just hope Ralph gets the team talk right. -
Incredible result...totally unexpected but very much welcome! Thought Armstrong made a big difference coming on. JWP had his best game in a Saints shirt. There has been a sea change in Defence.

Saints v Spurs NYD - Build Up & Match Thread
Saint Fan CaM replied to John Boy Saint's topic in The Saints
Think big team mentality will get the better of the officials and so it will be an uphill battle getting anything from this game despite Spurs having a little dip in form. Would love a similar result to Chelsea, but think it will end 1-3. -
This was a good point to win...Palace no pushover. On Palace, a good number in that team are cynical cheats in my book...horrible.
-
Not saying he was not the mustard in the Championship, but he’s not showing signs yet of having the brain of a Prem striker. Rarely gets that would increase his chances of scoring.
-
Obafemi has his tail up and is full of confidence - put him up top with Ings and Redmond. Keep Armstrong in the midfield with JWP and Hojberg. Defence picks itself. Would like to say we can win this, but it’s at home and Palace under Woy have been very good in attack....just the kind of players we panic against. Wouldn’t like to predict it, but love a 3-1 home win to cap a great festive season of footie.
-
Was better today, but he’s still not doing enough to look like he understands what to do to score a goal, let alone actually score a goal. I would loan him out and bring through one of the U-23’s that knows how to create chances and shoot.
-
Really top class effort by all the team...and Ralph did his homework and despite my misgivings, Obefemi was great and Adams was a competent foil. MOTM for me was Armstrong...absolutely bossed the midfield and showed himself to be a real playmaker. JWP had one of his better games. Hojberg is still making some poor errors. Don’t let anyone say Chelsea were poor other than to also say Saints made them look poor. Fine result and for once the Christmas period is looking to be one we can celebrate.
-
Oh boy, this place sucks sometimes. Anyway, back to the business of wishing all Saints fans Merry Christmas and healthy New Year. May we be blessed with a few more points over the festive season, a couple of great signings in January and a stronger league position come May.
-
Fixed it for you. Fact is, over the last 2-3 seasons I do go to games with little hope that we will win. Contrast that to the side that came up from the Championship as an example and I would most often think we had a chance of winning, even against the top sides. Much prefer to be optimistic, but the results and our league position don’t lie unfortunately.
-
Completely agree with this...pity is, home support is getting worse nearly every game unless we’re 3 goals up. Chelsea were very good against Spurs, so I can’t see us getting anything from the game. Lucky draw might be within our grasp, but it’s an outside chance.

Aston Villa 1 - 3 Saints - FT - Reactions and Christmas Cheer!
Saint Fan CaM replied to Heisenberg's topic in The Saints
Got it right today and a great result. But Villa were no where near their best and so I’m not getting super excited just yet. Let’s keep things in perspective. Two losses and we’re back in the RZ. -
What the f? We're 2 up. Watch us spunk it away.
-
Where would we be without Ings? Villa have been poor.
-
Ralph, if he’s to stay, needs much better coaching staff alongside him. Clear decline since Rohl left.
-
That would be an amazing signing. Not happening at €10m let alone €10!
-
Utterly clueless all over the park. This team, Manager, Board and owner are taking us down.
-
I’ve not heard him get abuse at games? Terrible if so.
-
yeah, but you get a really great match day scarf to insulate your arse from the stone cold plastic seat you’ve paid £65 to sit in. Not all bad eh?
-
Not sure what you’re basing this on. I don’t see him anticipating passes to him or making telling passes to his teammates. He just seems to be quite lost at the moment with no discernible improvement to his positioning or attempts on goal. That can’t be right for a striker.
