  1. I really don’t think there’s a reason to be concerned. The player is hardly of advanced years, has had injuries to overcome and is learning the system Ralph wants. He is training so is in the first stages of his integration, but it must be remembered that there are good players playing a successful team game in both the first team and B team, so it’s not a shoe-in for the lad...he has to demonstrate he’s better than the present incumbents. Time is on his side it seems.
  2. Another academy product that looks to have the potential to be the real deal. Look who he has to displace though...can’t see him getting serious game time unless there’s a cup game against a lower league side coming up, which will be shame as I like the look of him.
  3. If they keep playing like they are against Leicester we will get a win. There’s little creativity up front from what I can see.
  4. My word, Wolves suddenly look utter dross. Just goes to show you can’t rely on other teams...you gotta do it yourself.
  5. Stephens getting far far too high up the pitch and we almost got caught leading to Romeu having to take a yellow. Have a word Ralph!
  6. Stephens very nearly undid all the good work so far with a silly pass.
  7. What a fooking goal!!!
  8. Perhaps “not match fit” is a euphemism for “a bit shit and not fitting into the system just yet”? Why would the club come clean about that?
  9. When we talk poor, it depends on how you judge the standard. Newcastle are poor by comparison to any team that plays exciting football, plus I don’t think Bruce has forged a particularly potent team. Saints are better than that currently, however we’re faced with disruption to the 1st choice team selection and in defence that is typically a weakness for us.
  10. To be honest Newcastle are poor and so is Bruce, however they have some stand out players...e.g. Maximilian. I reckon there’s every chance of a 3-0 win. Trouble is by the same token, Newcastle are a team that can sit back and frustrate. Thinking a 1-1 draw.
  11. To summarise, brilliant first 60 minutes, then Villa enacted their Managers instructions to nobble some key players and dive as much as possible in the box. But the end result was that we only let in 3 and still won going 3rd. My MOTM was McCarthy who frankly stopped Villa coming away with an embarrassing 5-4 win. JWP ran a very close 2nd...one of the best games I’ve seen from him. Armstrong needed to give KWP more cover and I just hope Salisu is better than Stephens, whose poor positional play was shown to be key to our past defensive frailties.
  12. Good feeling about this. Confidence must be high in the squad which is starting to look stronger than for a long time. 1-2 Saints.
  13. The same thought crossed my mind!😅🥺
  14. Redmond has always been a player to divide opinion...I’ve ranged from cold to slightly warm. But he is not of the same calibre as Theo by some stretch in most departments even if he is younger, so would much prefer to see Theo start and Redmond to come on later against tired legs. We should be good for a result in this game, but this is Saints so we’ll likely hash it up. Would like to see a confident 2-0.
  15. Top performance - very pro. Didn’t see that coming.
  16. Love the optimism generally on the forum. Not sure I can see a win to be honest and the most we can hope for is a draw, but it is the hope that gets you! Whoever scores first will have a good shout of a win, so let’s hope we get at them early, don’t try to walk the ball into the net and lastly IF we score first, we don’t sit back and wait for their equaliser. If we lose, I blame Sky for putting Redknapp on commentary once again (as if he’s some kind of Saints friend/expert).😀
  17. Press high maybe, but trying to get our CB pair to defend on the halfway line is recipe for disaster IMO.
  18. Something has clicked at Everton and it’s largely the managers responsibility. I don’t think we’ll get something from this unless we’re a little more conservative with the press by not taking such a high line. Fingers crossed for Armstrong otherwise it could be ugly.
  19. Very entertaining game. Thought Theo was good value and to my mind seemed more switched on than Redmond already. Vest did a great job, but overall our defence just seems to go to pieces at the slightest threat in the box. Have to give Adams credit...he’s starting to look much more the real deal. Bring on Everton with no Richarleson.
  20. Don’t think it will be a draw. Probably a valiant effort ultimately to be pipped by quality in the last 20 minutes. 1-3.
  21. Surely there’s nothing bad to be said about this? Feel good signing all the way and relatively low risk. If only we’d spent the Carillo money on Theo when Arse released him. And for those who say he’s no winger, I remember him as a 16 yr old delivering probably the best cross I’ve ever seen from the byeline at SMS.
  22. For.all the plaudits of JWP's deadballs how many times has he assisted from a corner?!? Not a great return I would guess.
  23. What an effing goal!!!
  24. Need to ensure we don't revert to backwards passing to McCarthy in an attempt to hold on to a 1 nil lead. Must press for a 2nd early in the half.
  25. Looks the real deal. Let’s hope the Southampton way doesn’t bugger him up.
