See thats the issue right there. OK so he may get a CL medal, but how much would it mean to him? It would be 'won' without the people that have meant the most to him professioanlly over the last 5-8 years. The win for a club that means nothing to him other than a pay cheque. I don't know...perhaps Lallana is a heartless mercenary, but to be honest I never had him down as that type of bloke.

It would be pure supposition and speculation on my part. If you see any report in the press without a quote from at least one of the parties, you should basically disregard it.

All supposition....it didn't happen. Nor did Lallana/Shaw. Typical of some on here putting one and one together and getting three. The concern is will the Board now hold on to our best players to allow progression or will we settle for a permanent mid-table slot (or worse)? Fact is, we finished 8th because of the quality of the 1st team...weaken that and we'll lose the current impetus.

What wages etc could we offer then? The fair play rules are closing in on these so-called 'big clubs'...another year or two and we could be a club players want to come to or stay at. If the Board allows our best players to be sold (rather than the also rans), then what the hell is the point for the supporters of the club? That is why this summer is clearly wholly pivotal in determining where we head from here. Having said that, I have heard that Targett is considered better than Shaw, so perhaps keeping Shaw until Targett is ready is the right strategy.

Simply want us to keep our best players. I hate the fact that on the eve of us breaking into the top tier of English Prem football, we are plundered by a team just one place higher than us. It will leave a very nasty taste and will do nothing to advance supporters faith in the new Board.

Well done and good luck to the lad. I remember when I first saw JWP and didn't think he had what it takes, but he proved me wrong and he's shown he has skills others in the team do not possess. I truly hope that Sam takes everything from the summer that he needs to equip him for next season - unfortunately to date I have been very underwhelmed with what I've seen, but who knows it's going to be a long summer.

I think Osvaldo, Sharp, Forte and possibly Guly will be released. We may see a couple of players come in, but not many as there are players like Reed etc who are waiting for that 1st team opportunity. The rest of the squad will stay together (including Lallana and Shaw), led by an ever-increasingly confident Mopo. I personally think that the spirit in the whole team is so good, it is responsible for at least 50% of the clubs success over the last 4-5 seasons. I think there are people in the top management team that know this too and will work hard to ensure it is not broken up.
