  1. This needs to be Saints big signing of the summer - not getting VVD will likely cost a couple of million in lost league places if we don't replacement the quality of Toby IMO (even though I do believe Yoshi is an improved player) and so it's worth splashing a little more to beat the other suitors.
  2. Well that was pretty convincing really.
  3. Interesting from a "that's stupid" point of view. As someone has said, there is a bias towards what Sky transmits AND if it's a Man U home game, how do they know that the watcher is not actually there to watch their own away team and not Man U? Basically a meaningless bit of propaganda bull.
  4. Not signing a CB of Tobys standing will cost us dearly in terms of progress...Yoshy and Gardos not the answer...nor the kids.
  5. We will lose this with kids and go out early. It's the Saints way. (-;
  6. Err, corrected!
  7. Chelsea Man C Arsenal Man U Saints 5th - largely thanks to an early Europa exit Revelation - Clasie and a returning J-Rod ; Scapegoats - Ramirez and Pelle 1st manager to be sacked - Rogers after leaving Schneiderlin on the bench too many times.
  8. With this chappie and the Celtic CB Van Dijk (sp?) we would have a pretty damn strong squad!
  9. Excellent signing and as said before, I think he could be more suited to our system than Morgan if he settles well. Welcome and good luck for your five years at Saints Jordie!
  10. Suarez would be a stunning steal for Saints, although not our typical signing profile TBF. Starting to get rather excited about some of our new additions - hoping Clasie gets confirmed soon - think he could actually be better for us overall then Morgan (i.e. not saying he's a better player, it's about complimentary attributes). I do wonder whether Ronald is thinking that actually Yoshida and Gardos will do a decent enough job at the back with the new lad providing cover.
  11. Sad to see the end of an era for Saints really - hardly anything left of the team that rose from the ashes and eased their way into the Prem. The dam was burst by Shaw, Lallana, Lambert, Chambers and Lovren. The rest was just a matter of time. Got to respect Kelv and Jose for keeping the faith. Thanks for the memories Morgan - I guess you deserve a pop at the 'big time', but I don't wish you luck in your future career with any other Prem team.
  12. Yoshida is a better player, however if we're to retain any form at the back from last season we need to sign a Toby equivalent. Gardos or Yoshida are not that man.
  13. One day we'll find out what went wrong in this sorry saga, but someone somewhere in the club messed up big time with this one. OK AM were clearly playing games with the contract, but surely Saints would have been keeping a very close eye on the legal side of the matter to force AM's hand? Ultimately though if they wnated Toby to go to Spurs thats where he would go. Who knows what back-handers were involved also to get Spurs the deal...Euro football is rife with it (I would imagine).
  14. Typical of the majority of childish posters on this forum unfortunately, however Alpine's posts are somewhat biased to the negative for some reason. The general manner in which the trolls operate on here is the reason I stopped paying for the service - again a shame, because the site does have some good posters too.
  15. I really want Saints Exec to give Spurs a bloody nose over this transfer - it represents more than just the capture of a player that wants to be here and did a great job for us. However, unless Toby is true to his word and a rare loyal honourable player, he will go wherever the money shouts loudest and that will be Spurs unfortunately. Who knows, perhaps the deal is just about to be done - let's hope so.
  16. Yep, and then when he finally goes, they will say how he's so unfit so as to justify him being on the bench for a prolonged period.
  17. A shadow lifted. Interestingly, Ramirez remains at the club it would appear ready to take up a Europa league place in the squad. Also, there was a comment made on the training video clip from the club that made the point that Morgan was training with the squad - a sign he might be staying? Is his £25M valuation too high for United or whoever to come and get him?
  18. Just having expensive players at your disposal doesn't make for a good management with effective tactics etc. I don't think Brenda has realised that just because these ex-Saints were great with us, doesn't mean they will come for him...in fact the evidence suggests very much the opposite. He really could be looking at the sack by Xmas if they are outside the top 6 I suspect.
  19. Couldn't give a monkeys about him moving on - I feel sure Cedric will offer as much if not more. I look forward to seeing his career take a nose-dive at Pool.
  20. Morgan has been great for us....he deserves his pay upgrade. Hope he's awful for Utd though.
  21. Au contraire Rodney. There are clearly some who are relaxed about the prospect of losing two of our best players..."we knew about these leavers so whats the problem?" seems to feature a fair bit. The key issue though is how the club respond - keeping Toby would be a massive step forward, but finding a Morgan replacement will be high on the agenda but a difficult task when considering the time he has spent here and what that brings to the morale of the team. To put it another way, how many youngsters are in the 1st team squad? 50%? Is our team becoming less cohesive because its full of 'strangers'? Important questions.
  22. I don't think we should underestimate the effect Morgan and a top CB next Jose has had on our journey to date. There are many games that saw us no or low score but our defensive strength delivered points. Those three will definately be harder to replace effectively than last years departures...the club need to work very hard to retain Toby IMO to dramatically reduce the effect and also boost morale across the squad.
  23. Yep, so crap we went straight up to the Prem - no messing about. Sure, he's starting to look slow now, but Davis has been an absolute top pro for this club at L1 to Prem and anyone who says otherwise must be a complete troll.
  24. At Southampton a player has the opportunity to do something extraordinary...to make history. At a club like Liverpool you need to be an extraordinary player to stand out from the crowd and really achieve. Liverpool are most definately not in an upwards trajectory - Clyne, like Lallana will find his bank balance is nice, but his relative value will diminish.
  25. It will be away to Bompey. Or possibly them at ours. It has fix written all over it.
