The trouble is when you look at the options available in the money range the club can sustainably afford, there’s not a great deal of choice. I suspect there are a number of permutations and discussions being held that were not party to - fingers crossed we unearth a gem.

I suspect the reason lies with Saints wage structure more than anything else - his expectations do not match what we can offer currently and he knows it, assuming of course there ever was a genuine interest in bringing him back.
