Wow - didn’t see that coming. Quite the shift around of players this window, but remarkably we’ve managed to actually improve significantly in many areas of the pitch. Bodes well for the remainder of deadline day - wouldn’t be surprised if there’s some more nice surprises beyond Cornet (assuming that gets done).

Yes I agree - he looked pretty much ready to go and better than Manning to my eyes, but then we don’t get to see what Russ sees in the context of Russball. Not great that he’s going to a Prem rival, but such is life.

Not sure we had a place for him and have more important targets, but slightly disappointed that having been our club captain, he has now becoming a bit of a journeyman rather than re-establishing himself here.

It’s going to be an exciting day that’s for sure - if we land Ramsdale and Cornet they improve the squad significantly in areas that needed attention, but it ain’t over until the fat tea lady sings! Plus if we get Pedro as a striker option (where’s all this money coming from?), you can only applaud SR for what promises to be an exceptional window.

SouthamptonFCnews are reporting we’ve been looking at a Kevin Zefi from Roma in training - 19 year-old striker plays across the front positions. Never heard of him!

Always thought Ward-Prowse as a bit of a luxury player - one that a relegation scrapping club could not afford in the side. Not changed that view even though his free-kicks would come in handy. Think we’ve moved on - at least I hope we have.

If Leicester can offer a no.1 GK to England then so can Southampton assuming our new look squad can climb the table above them and that’ll be a great day. Surely Ramsdale will go straight in as no.1? Can’t see him agreeing to come here to get splinters. Got to agree with all those calling for a back 4 with Stephens on the bench. Not sure RM will be quite so brave. A midfield that includes the talents of Downes, Fernandes and Big Les will be one to behold…please make it be. The front three almost picks itself, but does present a bit of a dilemma. Do you start Dibling and go for the jugular or wait until later when defenders legs maybe tired? If RM plays a front three it will likely be BBD, Archer and AA meaning the two on the outside get isolated as we’ve seen, so I’d drop either AA or Archer to the bench (matters not who…they’re very similar) bring the strikers in more central and play Dibling across the width of the park giving him the freedom to unlock defences and supply the front two. Ramsdale Suga. THB. ABK. KWP. Downes. Big Les. Fernandes. Dibling Archer. BBD.

Dibling is an absolute gem. Has to be first man on the team sheet. Shortly followed by Downes, Fernandes and big Les.
