  1. Ah got it. CD = central defender. ROM = Nicolas Romero - 20 year old left footed CB from Argentina. Championship Mgr = he’s one for the future when we get relegated. Easy. 😉
  2. Yeah true - I’ve been wondering what the seemingly inevitable defeat on Saturday will do to squad mentality and if that continues for the majority of EPL matches, will it be to the detriment also of cup games and even next season in the Championship if we’re relegated.
  3. It is relatively weak, however is it right to almost completely change out the team that earnt promotion? Team spirit is very important part of the overall dynamic and it seems that’s the one area that Russ has improved over the tired dross of a team we went down with. It could be argued that more money would have bought better quality in key positions, however if the big moneys not there…well it’s not there and that’s the end of it. SR are gambling that there’s enough there to get us through - team spirit could make all the difference and with that in mind my view is if we sign one more player it has to be O’Riley (if that’s still possible) as he loves Russ and should prove decisive in getting and assisting goals. I’m not however holding my breath and anyway, whoever comes in this week will not make the Newcastle team sheet.
  4. Exactly - who are these 12 signings? Must be including youngsters? I’ve got….THB, Lallana, Downes, Taylor, Suga, Edward’s, Woods - that’s 7.
  5. Lallana. Massive. 🤣 In truth, probably Ings.
  6. I’ll be honest and say my interest is in the holistic view of how our failing public services will be repaired, rather than gathering statistics. My issue is not your stats specifically, just that to ensure a proper fix is identified and deployed, it is essential to ensure that myths are exposed.
  7. Do you think Bournemouth have the funds to get him and would he want to go there?
  8. There you go again trying to attribute thoughts to me that you really have idea about and it you that is making assumptions, which is why I asked questions to provide you an opportunity to validate your figures. You didn’t and can’t. It’s all very well spouting numbers - where’s the solutions? The issue here is one of sustainability in a social care program that is on the brink of collapse. At what point do we say, there is no more money to do all the things we’d like to do? Look at the numbers of migrants waiting for their claims to be processed - how will that queue get resolved without the resources to do so? Are you willing to pay more tax to get the job done?
  9. For a start you’re not comparing apples with apples - why not quote UK National men or for that matter why not quote all migrants…women and men? And anyway, if those numbers are true, is it also true therefore that 18% of migrant men claim benefits and use the NHS without doing a single days work and contributing tax/NI? That’s 18% of how many migrants in the last 14 years?
  10. You said that, not me.
  11. And what % of the immigrants from the last 14 years that are still in the country actually work and pay income tax etc? I don’t know, but I bet you don’t either which makes your argument, while correct in theory, somewhat mute. They don’t pay the same as anyone else living in the country, but they do cost the taxpayer from the day they land in the country. Do you think they should pay back the benefits that they’ve received but not earned - a bit like UK resident students have to pay back their student fees? You say the money is already there, but then say it’s not there because it’s been pissed up the wall. Which is it?
  12. That’s what I loath about some of the political debates - nobody wants to come honest with the costs - I.e. what taxation is required to deliver all of the services we expect. There are dimwits who shout down the government about not spending enough, but in the same breath moan like crazy about taxes being too high - the Government’s money IS OUR money and it doesn’t grow on trees - you want more…pay more tax (and vote for a party that distributes it for the benefit of everyone). Water companies - the worst privatisation in the history of Tory rule and there’s been some corkers. Ofwat should legislate so Water Companies are not allowed to provide one penny of profits to shareholders until the services are fixed, including as a priority the pollution of our waterways. Where did the money from the sale of the water companies go…has there been any form of forensic accounting of what happened to OUR money? Modern day ‘Robin Hood story’ of theft but in reverse!
  13. Exactly, plus what about their ‘next of kin’ minders/friends that are allowed to stay also?
  14. That’s likely, but I’d rather it was Tyler D instead of Aribo - much more chance of feeding AA or BBD.
  15. Even if we sign someone between now and Saturdays opener, I don’t think they'll be starting the game. Possibly not even on the bench.
  16. Oh absolutely - but I was referring to us, the supporters (which is slightly different to say the team conceding lots of goals and losing more games than winning them). However, there is a glimmer of hope when you see some of last seasons over-achievers start selling off their prize assets. And who knows, there may be a signing before the end of the window that’s the catalyst to a great season. Maybe.
  17. And there it is, insult the poster…nice.
  18. Wow that was pretty bleak. We’re going to have a tough season if that’s any indication.
  19. You appear to have a very simplistic view of the World and your argument as a result has suffered to the point where you’re trying to 2nd guess what I think to win points! You don’t know immigrants wanting to enter the UK are all fleeing war torn countries - that’s plain wrong. Russia invading England is a daft repose - no relevance to the debate and you know it. If you’ve offered a valid explanation of why people want to come here and immigration is out of control I must have missed it.
  20. I’ve paid for a video pass but can’t get the steam!
  21. An interesting question. Why do these people with expensive phones/contracts and have the means to pay thousands to smugglers want to come to live here? For the most part it’s not because they’re fleeing persecution - if it was they’d take up residence in Greece or some other safe EU country (some do of course). I’ve travelled the World a bit - this is definitely one of the best countries to live without doubt.
  22. Again, I’m not disagreeing with the suggestion…it just won’t stop the boats without some form of deterrent. How many of the boat people do you think have access to on-line means / time? Not too many I would guess…they’re desperate and want a quick solution. The smuggling gangs will make sure there’s a product to sell still.
  23. Don’t disagree with your comment as such, however it has to be recognised that there is more than one group causing unrest.
  24. I agree with all you’ve said in terms of process. My point of disagreement is that I am not sure the very sensible approach you suggest will actually stop the boats. If the policy was to immediately deport individuals not using the correct application process then in time it could work, but unfortunately it takes time to bite and in that time the liberal media will use it as a stick when the next child drowns.
  25. I’m not quite sure what your point is. Every stage of seeking asylum is a part of a process. The problem is there is no robust and effective process and that has been the case for more than 14 years. Where outside the country are these applications being made? The French don’t want it on their land - Brexit did for that. Even if a processing centre was set-up, I’d wager that the boats would still come with little impact on reducing numbers - why do you think Starmer’s strategy is to employ more border force officials…to process asylum claims? There’s only one effective way to fairly control immigration and that’s to take control of the tap - not mop up the flood.
