I’m not confident that there’s a hope in hell of signing Moukoko…far too many other more attractive clubs in for him. Massive coup if it happens though. Charles going to Celtic as a make-weight seems plausible, but it also makes the deal much more complex in what is clearly already a difficult deal. Getting it over the line would be a huge statement of intent from SR and the club. Exciting to think it might happen.

Hopeful that this is going to be one the best signings in the forward area that we’ve made in a long while - a definite upgrade on Adams it would appear but I’m not getting too excited until I see how he fits into RM’s system and makes use of the delivery from the rest of the team. Love the fact that he seems to have much more fluidity about his play and two feet that work!

I’ll be mighty miffed if Ballard goes out on loan and then we bring in another bod. He’s done everything he can to prove himself capable in pre-season so far and is more capable than Mara, Sulemana and at least equal to Edozie. In Russ we trust?

Onuachu doesn’t want to be here - at least now that is and had he been given a shot by RM at the outset that may have resulted in a different outcome perhaps. Mara is just so way, way out of his depth it’s unreal and if I didn’t know better I’d say we had the wool well and truly pulled over our recruitment teams collective eyes when signing him. And he’s not got better - shockingly he’s gone backwards IMO. He (we) really needs a loan (preferably a loan to buy deal). Stewart is the only player with a hint of the unknown about him, other than he’s had tough injuries to overcome for an extended period. He has good movement and the ability to score goals, however we’ve only seen him play for a short while on the right wing - the wrong place to play him. If he finds his fitness, stays un-injured and gets played central as CF then he may have something to offer…maybe. The odds are though that he’s not going to cut it in the Prem, but if he’s given a chance to prove otherwise it’s his to take. There’s a continued huge gaping dilemma facing the club in terms of striker quality which has been magnified by a return to the Prem. To play Russball we will need to be able to score plenty of goals and currently we’re very light in that department. The club can hardly say it’s a problem that has suddenly materialised - it was very apparent well before it relegated us. Fingers crossed there’s a solution on the not too distant horizon.

Reports of him handing in a transfer request now - really wants that move to Trabzonspor, but they need to cough up the readies or he’ll rot in the U-21’s.

If we signed just Ramsdale and BBD asap I would feel much more comfortable about the upcoming season.

Jeez…6 CF’s! How many have we got? A crocked player in Stewart and Onauchu who nobody wants? Something needs to be done this season to address this deficiency once and for all.

To be fair I saw him once run onto a ball just outside the pen area and lash it home - great goal. That was 2-3 seasons ago and I think he’s still trading off that one!

It’s a massive gaping hole that has been plastered over for 4 years now.

It’s only a pre-season run-out and the first team will not be the same as the line-ups displayed today, but I have to say I expected more from the second half with several 1st team starters coming on. Bordeaux were pretty poor by EPL standards so to concede 2 goals from nothing should send some warning signs to the coaching team (I hope). I think Dibling and SAA have something about them that Sulemana and Edozie don’t - whatever it is, the result is more emphatic and productive. Mara is a lazy slouch that needs a rocket up his arse. Suga looks a great addition with a bit of passion/spirit about him. Lis and Mara are nowhere near Prem level and hopefully nowhere near the first team. We need a very good striker and possibly a new keeper too. At this point BBD and Ramsdale would be great additions.

Oh, he was top scorer in the Championship before he came to Saints, but for some reason he never really achieved his potential with us. Granted he had an ok season last year…playing for a move perhaps…but it was hardly in the same league as Arma.

Good luck to him, but pleased he’s gone. I always thought he played like a midfield creator rather than an out and out striker as he did have some imaginative passing in his kit bag. Ultimately though he really didn’t cut it in either the Prem or the Championship if we’re honest.

I think you’ll find that was towards the front end of his time, but anyway I’m not certain you can assume that Aribo or indeed Lallana would not be able to step in. Plus there’s Smallbone who I’m sure will be given a chance to prove himself. Basically I don’t think we’ll be signing another DM before we complete other business, but you never know.
