If he can draw in defenders and leave space for AA or BBD to get a shot off I’m all for it. The REAL problem lies just there though…with Russball any shot has to go through 11 opposition players blocking as we’ve taken so f-ing long to get the ball to the forwards. Even Ronaldo would struggle! 😏😉
-
Definitely. And keep it the same starters for as many games as injuries allow. Suga. Bedders. THB. KWP . Big Les Downes. Fernandes AA. Alberto. BBD
-
Well if he is valued at €24m then we’ve got next to no chance of signing him I would imagine. Not unless they’re confident of the sales of TP, Charley and at least one other…perhaps KWP. I’m surprised he’s anywhere near a top ten of Brazilian goal scorers, but who knows?
-
If Yuri Alberto is the answer, who knows what the question is? 🤣

Eddie Nketiah would be an outstanding signing if it could be achieved, but I just don’t think there’s the will or the money to get that class of player. Same with Broja, who also is a big risk following injury. Whoever we get, if we get anyone atall, it’ll be pointless unless the stupidity of playing our strike force on the wings is corrected. I can’t think of a single positive attribute to our attacking play and that opinion hasn’t just surfaced - I’ve thought it since way before the play-off final, it’s just that in the Championship there was always a glimmer of opportunity to get it right or for the opposition to screw something up.

Would be most interested in reading what @Farmer Saint and @Turkish or any other CoT member knows about the clubs position in terms of getting a new CF. Will it happen or will it not…are we even trying?
-
In some respects who starts really doesn’t matter - I don’t believe that playing senior players to get a win will help…what happens if we lose…will it more deeply embed their feeling of unworthiness?!? Having said that, it’s an excellent chance to get the new lads some significant minutes. For me the most important aspect of the game is to develop ways of moving the ball forward quicker and identifying routes through defensive lines without expecting a solo run by a player that ends up in giving the ball away with no shot on goal.

OK, two games in and I’ve modified my thought that we need a GK replacement as a priority - we still do need that, but there are actually more pressing matters. 1. We definitely need a big strong CF…a focal point that takes defenders away from BBD and AA. 2. We definitely need to play two more attack minded midfielders who have the ability to move and pass forwards at pace. Why are we selling Alcarez? He must have refused to grow a beard. 3. RM needs to get BBD and AA off the wings to allow the wing backs space to do their job (if we persist in a 5 at the back). 4. Most importantly, Russball needs a make-over. Yes, use possession to our advantage at times, but in the Prem trying to pass the ball into the back of the net will not happen past 11 players. We need to mix up our attacks and move at pace more…get more shots on target.

Oh it’s very bad - we can’t score. And so we don’t win games…in fact we’ll lose many.
-
Edozie doesn’t deserve the shirt.
-
At last - 7 minutes left and Smallbone off. Shit.
-
We will lose this - 100%.
-
Smallbone is completely out of his depth - game passing him by. Get him off RM.

Falling. asleeeep….zzzzz

Positive thing is the story is not going away, however it would be the most #saintsy thing to sign Bijlow so as to keep the medical team on their toes.
-
This is the dilemma…if it weren’t for his poor injury record Bijlow is more suited to Russball, but Aaron has pure pedigree, a good injury record and looks more likely as a loan to buy. Tough shout for the club.

Mate - check the date of the post!

Except the SS report was from today? I guess it maybe regurgitated BS, but not a week old.

You’ve clearly not seen my Wife. 🤣

It could be argued that the club has analysed the issue and decided the root cause was not in the strikers individually, but in (a) the competition level of the strikers which has been addressed with BBD and Archer in and/or (b) the supply to the front line which has been addressed by bringing SAA and Dibling in, adding Suga and Fernandes which has improved midfield. You could also argue Lesley potentially provides an opportunity for Downes to get forward more. That’s not to say we’ll not add more, but I’m not certain we’ll see a regular CF come in, especially if Stewart manages to get/stay fit.

Looks highly likely to be headed our way on a loan deal, so thought he deserved his own thread. If it happens it’s one of the best signings in a summer of pretty great signings. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-ramsdale/profil/spieler/427568

Just seen Sky Sports saying we’re in for a loan deal deal for Ramsdale - fingers crossed they get this across the line.
-
Sky Sports reporting Saints have a loan deal for Ramsdale lined up - he needs first team opportunities, so if he comes it’ll definitely be as no.1. Kind of old news but first I’ve seen a concrete report so looks likely. I wonder if it’ll be a loan to buy deal or we intend to bail and go back to the Baz project - hope the former?
-
To be fair, while he may have shown glimpses, overall his contribution to goals or assists has been mediocre at best. We need more…much more.

Fixed it for you.
