Many of these players not exactly pushing to get into RM’s plans for the first team. Mara just lost his man at their corner to give free header. Just gave up.

Mara really is playing above his station sometimes. Only rare flashes of decency, but mostly poor judgement and slow to everything.

Bednarek and Stephens together in a CB pairing will lose the game.

I remain convinced it’s not Stephens per se. It is the Stephens and Bednarek partnership that is a car crash waiting to happen. Don’t ask me why…I’ve not analysed it in depth, but to my eyes they get in each other’s way…take up the same space too many times and get caught out of position too many times, probably over compensating. Both players look MUCH better when playing alongside THB who is our best CB. Bednarek is slightly better than Stephens so makes sense to start him, but if THB comes off for Stephens as he did today, we’re likely going to see a cluster-fook of a defensive performance.

I don’t think it’s that simple. When Stephens plays with THB he’s better, but his pairing with Bednarek weakens the CB pairing too substantially to be viable. He’s not better than Bednarek and that’s why he’s not forced his way as a starter.

This is ending 3-3 right? 😉

I’ve not read all posts here, but it seems one of the most important points about the current Northam arrangement is being missed. When away fans get a larger share of the Northam, the most vocal part of SMS is disrupted and yes, the atmosphere is detrimentally affected. This was particularly evident in the Prem when away support was typically bigger. I applaud the club for attempting to fix the issue once and for all.
