Unfortunately my Dad passed away 4 hours after the last game, so I’ll be watching this on my own, although I like to think he’ll be there with me in spirit. 😔 Should be a win. Needs to be a win, as we can’t let space develop between us and Leeds now Ipswich are starting to falter. Think we’ll not find it easy with some key injuries. Could RM go three CB’s with Stephens available? Don’t want Che anywhere near the starting 11 and would rather see a youngster off the bench, but I guess that'll not happen unless we’re three up with 10 minutes left. Hope Bree and Downes are fit. 2-1 Saints.

A great win for my Dad who is still holding on…well done Saints. RM subs were good choices. Honourable mentions… Adams and Manning - both make the team look worse. If Adams thinks he’s getting a better contract than the one at Saints he’s a sandwich short of a picnic….terrible player that’s a waste of shirt. Manning tries hard but just doesn’t have a brain. KWP, Downes and Fraser - outstanding as usual. I like Charles…he’ll be a great player one day, but he didn’t need to take the 2nd yellow.

Today I watch the Saints game with my 91 year old Dad for the last time - he will sadly not know anything of the game as he is on end of life care. I’m hoping Saints will do him proud.

I’d be extremely surprised to see Saints sign a £30m player in any window. However, the market must still be nuts given we spent £12m on a crocked striker who it seems is unlikely to feature this season in any sustained fashion. I reckon Che goes for £15m and if there’s business to be done then that’ll be the limit of our spending…probably nearer £10m actually.

Absolutely this. While JS has his own attributes, the established pairing we’ve enjoyed for a good number of games should be retained except maybe for cup games.

Interesting that for my money THB has transformed his performances so well that he’s now close to being our no.1 CB. Not so sure RM sees it that way though and I suspect it will be THB that makes way for the return of Stephens unfortunately because he’s Captain and both he and Bedders are very vocal on the pitch.

Think that’s the problem with players like Ings though - gets involved on a matchday and the rigours of a full pro game are enough to trigger another breakdown. Always living on the edge of another injury that takes him out for several games. Just as has happened with our latest striker acquisition. I’ve got nothing against Ings as such, just don’t think he’s a good purchase (unless he’s released on a free and plays on a pay by game contract).

Perhaps the guy was brought in on a short term consultancy type contract? Think there has been a bit of an improvement - not much but perhaps enough. As we know it can take a long time for new ideas to embed themselves into the squads consciousness and understanding. Or perhaps he’s been found out to not bring enough to the table. One thing is for certain is it’s unlikely he’ll be missed too much.

Very good all round performance. No coincidence that Bree replaced Manning and Che was out. We looked so much better. Great that Wednesday beat QPR today too - they’ll be hopefully subdued for our next game.
