Absolutely this - this team looks like a club in free-fall. The decline has been slow and started sometime between Koeman and Ralph…like a case of corporate footballing Alzheimer’s.

If we disregard the two goals, this performance is a disgraceful advert for professional football. Watching that team - a team that has played many, many games together - would have you believing that they’d never had a coaching session…never discussed how to form a cohesive attacking movement…never had coaching on set plays etc etc etc. It really is disgraceful.

The problem is, playing 5 at the back doesn’t work because it’s the subs late in the game that screw us over. Far better I would argue to keep a CB on the bench and revert to 5 at the back at 70-80 minutes to (hopefully) protect a lead.

That’s Vardy’s bread & butter.

To be honest putting five at the back in a match that has little real significance just smacks of a club hierarchy that has completely lost its way and a number of players that are continuing to somehow steal a living. There’s very little regard for the supporters that have spent a lot of money to be entertained. I’m really starting to lose a lot of respect and interest given these spineless decisions.

A really good observation this. Think some supporters underestimate the importance of the CB pairing - i.e. how well do they work together? Bednarek might arguably well be our best CB, but if that standard is ‘damaged’ by the lack of compatibility of one or more poorer standard partners, the entire defence looks worse. That analysis works through the spine of the team too.

I think the common belief is that Spors supposedly is the saviour in waiting and that all good will emanate from his actions as soon as the season ends. His past achievements have been well documented, however it’s hardly nailed on that past success will translate to SFC. The logic of feeling unease and even pessimism lie in the huge mountain to be climbed to install a successful suitable manager and to turn the squad around into a unit that looks like it can score more goals than it concedes. On the basis that we’ve not seen much of an impact due to Spors so far (excluding the sacking of Juric), I’m afraid I share your pessimism.

Apart from that, there’s no way that SW have the financial means to buy Charles. If he’s not playing for Saints next season (likely) he’ll be sold to a more financially able club and Dragan will recoup some of his lost £’s.

Indeed and serves to remind us why this summer is not just another window - it will be a critical repair and rebuild process that will have far reaching consequences on the status of the club mid-long term. In my view there’s as much chance of Dragan selling later - i.e. if another relegation happens, as the club will be cheaper to acquire, however that does also mean likely job losses and assets sold.
