  1. They also have Alderweireld and naingollan, vossen is no mug.
  2. Except of course they were already bigger clubs then us with past success ?
  3. Wenger wont go anywhere until the end of his contract, its not the first time he has been courted by a bigger club, he is quite loyal, and is pretty much the lord of the manor at the Emirates. Benitez wouldnt be a bad choice for PSG you know, Im not his biggest fan BTW, but he is a cup manager first and foremost, and the only thing worth winning for PSG is basically the CL
  4. Take a look at the Belgium team in general, me and Kraken have posted some names a few times, it has talent and depth
  5. Ahh ok, my bad, just thought that a striker in general would be judged by goals ? Ill have to get the latest update of my coaching manual.
  6. FWIW benteke has 22 goals and 8 assists for Villa this season, not too shabby for an inexperienced team that has spent much of the season scrapping for their lives.
  7. Assists really dont bother me from a man who is supposed to be our main striker TBH, your more than welcome to wish the only guy we play upfront sits deep and so is rarely in a position to finish chances but as a preference I would want my midfield and FBs to stump up the assists and my main man to score/provide the occasional assist.
  8. I said what I said as I personally think Lambert is fading, still a top player on his game but looking at what Benteke, Michu and Lukaku have been doing rather consistantly this year it shows you what we could have. Fwiw, and Im not massively comparing Lambert and holt as they offer different things but as a goalscorer they score similar goals. And noticeably he has not been as effective this year. For me, replacements needed are; CB CM St Wide man Not that I have anything against those players but to improve you need to evolve
  9. You are obviously having a laugh right ?!
  10. Hmm One of; Benteke Ince Richards (uninspiring ? What planet are you on ?)
  11. Phew, managed to get away with not being involved in that. Even if it was or wasnt true, I still dont necessarily believe that conversation ever made sense. But there you go, Lard hated Adkins almost as much as Roger loves Lambert. Its sort of similar to Alps, eventually when we are relegated Ill expect he will pop up and say I told you so.
  12. Whilst we are at it dump Ramirez and pick up Antonio ?
  13. TBH spurs and city have always had a decent following and both, however you judge club sizes are arguably bigger than us. Could we make the CL ? Honestly I cant see it happen with us, we could always do an Everton maybe and skirt around it but itll take a long time. The academy means a lot but essentially unless you are established you will end up selling off your better products. Make no mistakes Shaw will leave eventually, as will the next guy etc etc Our power on the south coast is already established, MLG will tell you otherwise but we wont gain anything much east or west that we dont already have or will never support us. Those big clubs have big big cities to call upon.
  14. Now I like you Clarky, but even with the 'Saints hate Redknapp' glasses on surely even you can see thats a little OTT ?
  15. Yeah, I know the feeling, wasnt massively happy with my performance, couldnt get a grip of the midfield nor string enough passes or shoot accurately enough. I actually came home not annoyed with the result butmy completely abject performance. And Ihave had a pretty decent season in the centre of midfield in the top sunday league. Still, I enjoyed it, whens the next one ?
  16. I feel safer now we have our caped crusader looking out for our wellbeing on the forum.
  17. Just a slight overreaction to what has been a pretty mellow debate there sunshine, Id suggest looking over your suggestion here in bold.
  18. Exactly, and in fact you can see that the sheer amount of African imports these days prove that Athleticism is high on the agenda of ehat is needed for a footballing thoroughbred as opposed even to technical ability. Now I am not saying that technique is a thing of the past, it really isnt, but what with the pace and power of the prem these days you need to be physically stronger and quicker then perhaps you ever did and more so then the technical game which is played more often abroad. Whats the point of beating two players if you dont have the legs to get away or strength to hold off ? That is also the case in a defensive point of view, you could be the best man marker of a generation but without sufficient strength or pace you'll probably still be found wanting 50% of the time.
  19. To be honest with you, I had completely overlooked that.
  20. Really dont understand why you are having so much trouble figuring this out TBH, nor do I get why you are getting so ****y about it. Forren has just come into the club after a decent lay off between seasons abroad, he probably isnt up to scratch and Id imagine that the standard over there is lower than here anyway so fitness and sharpness may have been lower BEFORE the break. If Fonte cant find his way back into a side who apart from Saturday have been performing ok (ok Jos worries me but tgats just my opinion) then why would they chuck someone in right now ? Care to explain why your do forceful in the knowledge that it wouldnt happen the way Monk is suggesting ? Or are you predisposed to just act like a bit of a tit ?
  21. We press high up the pitch, essentially if you can get the ball forward to a significant number of players against us you will do ok as it takes time to readjust and get players back into position. The high pressing game is effective but taxing, and can leave you short if your not careful. This is usually made worse when the FB go forward aswell. That said, Lukaku looked v v good.
