  1. Manning or Grimes would be good buys from Swansea… Piroe.. not sure but clearly he has ability in this league which could be invaluable Outside of that Id of liked us to have looked at Hamer from Coventry or even Gyokeres It’ll be interesting to see what happens with O’Doyle too, another stand out performer in that coventry side but obviously on loan from our parent club City
  2. Id would say he is almost definitely off
  3. If we were raid Swansea I’d possibly be more interested in Grimes or Manning tbh Not sure what to make of Piroe
  4. I believe its all but done and would imagine announced within a week or so but almost certainly within 2….
  5. Not a hint of irony at all Absolutely magnificent
  6. Im not really sure they’re too concerned about ST numbers, they have a plan and backing, a few less bums on seats because they don’t fancy Martin isn’t going to make a huge difference
  7. We sort of agree, Im not sure managers are necessarily looking to increase passing metrics just because they can. A possession based system has enough values, even beyond the old ‘if we have the ball you can’t score’ mantra It does depend how its utilised of course but you can dissect and pull opposition shape apart and find gaps, like any system, and you’re right, you have to have the right balance of risk but if you get that right the system is perfectly viable and generally successful in a championship campaign
  8. Well, he’s made a positive change everywhere he has gone, at some point a side is going to take a gamble on him, back him effectively and it’ll work.. there is no reason that couldn’t be us, we just need to have aligned vision, stability and give him what he needs Kompany didn’t do anything extraordinary in Belgium, but has done an incredible job at Burnley From a realistic appointment POV I’m not sure what you would have expected ? Jaissle ? Good manager with a good pedigree but has zero experience of the english league system or the Championship Vieira ? A career that has swung 50/50 so far between success and failure always ending with a slump Potter ? Good manager who I believe is keeping his options open for a prem move so wasn’t available Carrick/Corberan ? Would actually of been a choice of mine if I was to pick but both are happy at their clubs at the moment What other options did you have ? Martin wouldn’t of been my first choice, but its not a horrible choice, the bedwetting on here is a bit pathetic tbh
  9. Thats a very pessimistic view of the interview as a whole I’m warming to RM actually, if he is backed properly it could be a good fit for us especially in the direction we want to take
  10. Well yeah but thats not what you were saying I don’t mind possession systems, I prefer high pressing systems although they’re harder to coach to a degree.. but yes, possession for possessions sake is a bit wasted you have to have a threat
  11. Ive just read that as he is covering his bases tbh, he literally said in his interview today that the club have told him they’ll review after Liverpool and he hasn’t been told anything about a new manager, he was pretty specific
  12. I mean, this is quite a simplistic and basic view, playing out from the back has a lot of advantages especially if we want to be a possession based team, the games moved on from lumping it forward That said though it’ll be interesting to see who we buy and what we do if that is the plan because whenever we actually have to pass it about we look absolutely woeful
  13. I just heard Selles’ comments… and I’ll be honest, it clearly hasn’t worked here but other than the waffle he doesn’t seem a bad bloke Stringing him on and not explaining the situation is bad form
  14. Its a great post, Ive done a fair amount of reading myself and I think he’s a good manager, certainly better than a lot of the bedwetters in here believe But.. that said… I STILL think we have a huge task on our hands next year with an on field/off field rebuild so I am a little concerned that we’ll have Rasmus, a relatively inexperienced DoF in Wilcox and a manager thats never managed a club with our level of expectation
  15. Well you just know he’ll beat us 3-0 and go absolutely mental infront of us
  16. Wilcox was signed because of his experience of multi-club models not necessarily because of a possession based system but I think the idea was to move away from the high press and into something more manageable long term (season wise). Possession I ‘believe’ has now been settled on more due to our relegation Not that I’m disagreeing, the footballing strategy has been fucking abysmal
  17. Its just the chuckle brother these days tbh
  18. I look at this and think… who the fuck can be bothered with that level of nag/effort ? The security guard that used to work at one of the depots I go to would happily tell us he had two families… one that thought he worked nights and one days… FUUUUUCK that
  19. I doubt we’ll look at Gerrard, think Vieira was on certain lists previous to Palace which could tie in with the rumours we’ve talked to him but dunno
  20. I don’t mate sorry, although, Id be surprised if we are at any advanced stage in negotiations, I wouldn’t expect any announcements for atleast a couple of weeks so Im not losing my mind about the RM rumours yet
  21. Said this before, still think it now We can and should be looking for more
  22. My point was, when, as a club, and players have been trained to act on instinct it made little sense to me, to then change to a guy with a vastly different philosophy, the only time that really works is if you broke the glass and dug out a footballing dinosaur that specialises in defensive action. If we wanted to mess around with the wally from thr valleys then do it in pre season I’m not saying Selles was the answer because clearly he fucking wasn’t but for me, get someone like Marsch, Jaissle, Tedesco etc that play a red bull/bielsa disciple based system but can make the changes needed
  23. Wilcox is coming in because we want a multiclub model similar to CFG, thats why we have prioritised senior ex City backroom staff As per possession based systems, it makes sense, high press isn’t really sustainable unless you have a squad large enough to do it… and we don’t, possession systems are also usually more likely to achieve promotion from the championship, so all of that makes sense Agree with Ralph to Jones to Selles… to be fair I said at the time a mid season complete change of tactical philosophy was likely suicide… it was, it made sense to go back to Selles, he knew the players and the systems.. he was just shit
  24. Yeah exactly this, I’m not pretending we’re bigger then Sheff Wed etc… infact I don’t want to get into a club size argument that nobody other than fans give much of a fuck about We are a freshly relegated Prem side with good pedigree, backed by wealthy owners with ambitions (but arguably zero sense) In that case, we carry a decent stature, but like CB said we need to capitalise on that within 2 years
  25. He’s done a good job in every management role he’s had, including a Utd caretaker stint He’s sat and learnt off of some elite managers Was an elite level footballer Highly thought of in the game and transformed Boro this year Isn’t a bumbling idiot Other than that they’re basically the same
