Leicester going more direct we seem unsure of ourselves.
-
Impressed with JWP today he's playing like a man possesed, and Holjberg is finding good positions a shame about his shooting but very pleased with Saints so far!
-
The board needs time to make the RIGHT appointment and giving Puel a season will make the job MORE attractive to potential managers, if we sack him now it would send out a bad message for any future manager's.
-
Typical Saints story, solid in defence but struggling to create any chances, I'm a "happy clapper" but regardless of the result Puel has once again sent a team out who struggle to create anything, I'm all for kids in the academy playing, but regardless of whether Sims or Tadic plays, there's clearly something up in our set up and our approach - this can change with good coaching. I'm questioning his methods and that of our coaches, these players are good enough to dominate teams like Norwich and create a stack of chances - but since Puel has been manager we've struggled game in game out to muster up chances other than those created from corners and free kicks. The board should be looking at hiring a new manager to start next summer, as Puel can't take us forward next season, but getting rid of him now could mean another poor appointment.

Poor result, better performance, they've won by a lucky goal. Still, it's another poor result and the pressure is on Puel.
-
We need to take off Holjberg, he's slowing us down on our attack, and his decision making is too slow, personally I'd rather at least try and go for three points.. oh Tadic off for Jay Rod, thought Tadic was bright in fairness, ah well come on Jay Rod!
-
People forget that Burnley are a horrible side to play and very good at home, they defend well and we're creating chances. Redmond has been awful and exciting at the same time, if his decision making was better he'd be the best player on the pitch. Shane Long - excellent today, running the channels very nicely. Tadic - hit and miss, some good crosses and getting in good positions. JWP - doing better on the right some nice crosses, a good header. Romeu - excellent Holberg - average Fullbacks Bertrand + Cedric, defending well and getting forward. We're on top and if we get a goal we can make this comfortable. Much better performance than the one against Everton, confidence is coming back.
-
Today's performance is MUCH better than the two before, if we lose and play well as a fan I'm much happier. I still think Everton will nick this game..
-
Everton are closing down JWP as soon as he's anywhere near the ball leading to him giving the ball away and being outmuscled Koeman obviously knows our weaknesses, the defense needs to hoof it rather than play it into the midfield today.
-
Although Everton look dangerous as always, we look far more streetwise today and more wiling to put men in the box and take shots. So far we are matching them.
-
Oh and if we're going to play like Puel wants us to we need a taller striker or someone with physical presence to utilise deep crosses into the box, as we don't get to the byline to cross. I dunno, recall Sam Gallagher could be a master-stroke if Saints want to save money.

Today was a game where we missed of all people Pelle, as we couldn't win a ball in the air (bar Long's header) we kept reverting to playing in the 35-yard zone meaning West Brom could easily reorganise their line and we reverted to type. Boufal is the only player who is capable of being a match-winner in games like this, he was I dare say it far too UNSELFISH, I'd like to see him shoot more instead he kept passing to more wasteful players who then slow us up (Long, Martina, Tadic) clearly he is the one who is our best player by a bloody mile and he needs to be the one that takes responsibility because no-one else will, now either Puel needs to recognise that or Boufal needs to, he is the reason we're still in the league cup and he's the reason that we beat Boro, in this side we have no-one that wants to be a match-winner and no-one who is capable other than him. As for the game our passing was awful, we started the second half slowly and yes Long/Tadic combined for a goal but they both had bad games, Tadic's delivery is awful his lack of match sharpness is really showing. Holjberg, I'm a fan of his but he had a shocker he gave the ball away needlessly so many times. Davis was positive but didn't take on enough responsibility. Martina was Martina, struggled to get going down the flank. Yoshida/VVD - Both awful today flat flooted and poor distribution and a stupid red-card. Forster, I think he could have done better on both goals, he's too slow to react to quick shots and to get low for the first goal. McQueen, didn't offer anything today. Romeu - Our best in the middle, was winning balls, passing well etc. Boufal, our best player lots of positive play, dribbles, crosses had their defence all over the shop, but SHOULD shoot more.
-
Our performance against Spurs was better than this, i'm usually not negative but Puel clearly is failing to inspire anyone at the moment. I'll be happy to see us finish mid-table and then have a change at the top he's not going to improve us.
-
I don't think the 4-1 defeat is the fault of the strikers somehow, more the fact we ran into a good side who punished us once we went to ten-men.
-
Can't fault the effort of the players we ran into a side who are stronger, better in possession and have more goal threat, we looked dangerous at times but we were always going to struggle when Tottenham play this well, anyone slagging the players off is an idiot as most I believe have played well, but Tottenham have been excellent.
-
It was a red, denied a clear goal scoring chance. Stupid.
-
Lol at all those idiots saying that Bournemouth would rip us a new one, we've been awesome today and a much welcome return to form for Jay Rod who must be eyeing being our regular striker. Two winnable home games against Spurs and WBA next up.
-
No they're not - we will probably muster a lucky 1-0 win as we usually do.
-
I don't know what Puel is training but the play clearly lacks fluidity, the players look like decent players who have no understanding between each other and very little team spirit, there's no real togetherness. I don't think the players believe in Puel as they did Koeman, that's not to say Puel should be gone or whatever but whatever they're training away from the games it clearly isn't in the way of getting the best out of our players, our players ALWAYS look for safe options, if there's a pass there's no movement after it and if there is it's only one person doing it, meaning we're so easy to mark as we're predictable and one paced. Our ambition to get the ball down the flanks doesn't work as we have no aerial presence, we'll splutter our way to a mid-table finish. Our defence is excellent but without Fonte and VVD that could change very quickly.
-
We need a striker - but the lack of intent, confidence, creativity and movement is clear to see, whenever Redmond or Boufal do something decent they have little or no options, once again Boufal is our best player by a country mile, shame those around him can't muster up any ambition.
-
JWP... jesus christ - what on earth was that.
-
Also, Jay Rod looks MUCH sharper and is running the channels nicely, can see him scoring today.
-
We look better without Redmond, just need to be a bit more decisive in attack. McQueen is looking good down the left.

Simply not enough depth or creativity all round, we can't buy a goal at the moment and our chance creating ability has been woeful, Redmond and Bertrand truly awful tonight, no player comes away with any credit. Simply the worst performance all season, and that takes some doing. Puel can't inspire this team at the moment, and with Fonte on the bench and his situation unclear, there's alot to be said about the management and handling of this. -
