So you did have the sun in your eyes then. Admittedly he looked OK against a team in third gear, but there is a definite danger of seeing what you want to see rather than what you actually see. Souness must have thought that Ali Dia looked good in training Seriously though, I hope and expect him to be a class act - but there wasn't much to go on in that 45 minutes of football. If I were seeing him for the first time, and without knowing the history of the transfer, I would be thinking "not too bad - looks like he could be a good player for us" - but certainly not drooling and thinking he "oozed class" just yet. To be honest, I thought Rodriguez showed up the best in the second half. Good movement, good in the air, and held the ball up well.

Anyone else think Rodriguez showed up pretty well playing in a central striking position?

To be honest, I think there are a few rose tinted spectacles around. I didn't see much in that 45 minutes to have me drooling about how fantastic he is. I fully expect to be impressed over the coming weeks - but yesterday was nothing to write home about. He did seem quite strong on the ball though which is positive.
