Yeah, maybe aiming a shade high. Just think a good year for a decent club in CCC would be the perfect stepping stone for him. One step backwards to go many forwards. His wonderful talent and good attitude is in the cr@pper right now Benfica - Monaco - Belenenses all in abot the last 15 minutes...nipper ain't 'ad a chance, as we would say. Saints are famous for nurturing talent!!

Realize that I may get crucified for this one - anti-American stuff and the like, just feel it's still worth mentioning/debating. This kid has everything ('cept size and experience). He is very SWPish. His main problems have been being in too big a theatre - too early. Freddie is strong as an ox, fast as quicksilver, he has superb feet both left and right. He scores - he creates. Above all, he is a hamble lad with a fantastic attitude - a good person. What he needs is a chance at the right level to afford him the opportunity to grow (Saints next season in CCC for e.g.). If he goes to 'Ull he'll be another good young talent lost in that horrible mire. Altidore is a good talent (not as good as Adu) and he is totally lost playing on Humberside. Freddie .v. our Bart

Gotta say after watching Leeds competent, professional work at OT...'we cannot be that close to them, can we?' Was really impressed by the whites...if we are as good as that, I will be pleased but tbh surprised. Honest comparisons please.

This is absolutely one of the best possible draws we could, a team (in realistic terms) only a few very small steps above us. At home as well. I also feel whereas Sunderland players responded (only initially) to that horrible tvvat Keane's bullying, threatening, sombre, over-bearing, intimidating and negative nature, Ipswich players seem to have thoroughly rejected his awful methodology...which hopefully will work in Southampton's favour. Trouble, for me personally, is I will now have a an emotional involvement above and beyond just wanting Saints to win - which will make it all the more sweet when we win, but cannot even consider losing this one. Yes, the Irishman was a very good talent, however he is as far from anything that could be considered a 'good person' as you could imagine around football anyway. His criminal, revenge foul that time is possibly, if not probably the worst thing I've seen in football when you realise it was 100% pre-meditated and then added to that Keane's total lack of remorse. Ipswich is a great club, with a lot of good people and and some good fans. They just made the most unforgivable decision hiring the volatile ex-Celtic/United thug. We'll win - he'll get fired.

Good question SoB, have to say we haven't been through one of those 'injury crisises' yet and perceivably we still are slightly vulnerable too...so bring quality in. By that I mean quality 'people' that are also quality players.

We went mental...tbf most of their boys were on the North terrace. Mostly round us were kinda regular suppoter types, they were quiet a few 'scummer' and 'why can't it be Halifax, Rochdale or anybody but this lot' style comments, but no real hostility. Most of the Frontline boys ain't that easily intimidated either.

One of the best days ever to be a Saints fan. Actually watched the game from the fartton end (as you can see by my avatar). As the Saints allocation sold quick, a bunch of us 'Frontline' Saints got our tickets at pompee. On the match day there was a bunch of us in there, another group of lads off the boats/ferries that could only get tickets at fp and also a fairly sizable group up in the top corner of the fe. Biley's header landed really close to our group and watching Moran's winner was almost like watching it in slow motion - it was innevitable and inspiring!!

Off the subject of Saints I know, however if that basically criminal act of that mentally unstable Irishman had a just punishment (especially if a Saint was the victim) then I truly believe it should been a bit more like this (below). Yes Mr Keane we are going to give you a five match ban and a fine of four days wages - here's the punchline, the punishment will commence when you victim returns to full fitness and has played a month of first team football. Until such time you're banned sine die, with no RIGHTS OF appeal. END OF.

Thanks in large part to many of you, the Big fella is doing famously now. A 180 degree turn around from a month or so ago. It is really rewarding to see. Starting to do some art again has been a huge shot in the arm and you guys sharing good spirits and care with him has helped visibly lift him. For the first time in years he is actually considering a return to Southampton, due totally to the invitations made to him by Saints fans. This is real progress. He cracked me up the other day (as he often does). He mentioned watching the sailor boys game where they beat Liverpool 2-0, it was televised nationally here on ESPN. His whole synopsis on the match was as follows, I quote "I can see why pompee are in so much trouble." Followed up by "Liverpool are shocking!" I guess it might not 'read' as well as it sounded, but believe me, coming from Ron - the way he said it was hilarious!!
