I was a teammate of Tony Kellow briefly at Falmouth Town in the (then) Rothman's Western League at the tailend of the 75-76 season, before moving back to Southampton before the semi and Final. Lived there from late Jan '76 through Apr '76, obviously at that level he was awesome!!

Not trying to flog a deadhorse by the way. Just listened to two excellent AP interviews on Saints Player...he continues to impress. Articulate, focused with genuine leadership qualities!! Also listened to new signings Danny and Jon (don't most British football people say "obviously" a lot?) Couldn't help but notice (the 'obvious' - duh Tim) that he has signed three, what seems like excellent defenders. Also cannot help but notice the the 6 of the 7 goals we have conceded (since I last wrote about the subject) have been let in in the 75, 66, 68, 77, 75 and 54th minutes..a continuing trend I hate to say. However, I feel that the gaffer addressed that during the interviews, mentioning how Saints continually 'let opponents back into games', or words of that nature. Great stategic recognition and adjustment we hope!!

Gotta say these are some fascinating opinions - thanks. I feel we have enough class to make the play-offs and then possibly succeed. They look very likely (an almost gambling certainty) to go down. I need to know, 'cause I never miss a Southampton Football Club .v. sailor boys game!!

...Next year? Or am I being over-optimistic? Gotta say, feel it's a distinct possibility!!

One of our, excellent and regular posters on here had this to say (below). He had 'commisioned' Ron to do a picture as a Christmas gift for his father. His dad had been cruelly laid off just before the holidays after a long, loyal service to his employer. "Happy New Year to you. I hope all's well over there. When the picture arrived Dad was speechless when he saw it. He couldn't believe Ron had actually drawn it for him. The likeness is pretty striking. It's going to be given pride of place..." He is thrilled with the picture and it's quality. Happy New Year to everyone from Ron!!

For what it's worth, I feel we have a way to go to be as good as that (mis-managed) side. However, with Kelv/BB, Dan, Lally, Hammer, Lambo, DC and a better coach we have a decent base to surpass that. Steady building, team belief and embracing Pardew's vision may get us one step further in time.

Anyone that buys the sailor boys will have to assume their debt, unless they enter administration. + no businessmen worth a toss would consider buying pfc as their assets are well out-weighed by all their liabilities. Let's face they have little if any potential either, they need to pray!!

n.b. I use 'Dirty' Leeds, just because personally feel it sums them up well...and always has.
